Accessories FM Transmitters

I have an older car and radio has no audio jack, usb or the like.
Can anyone recommend a good product to allow my HTC Desire to use the music app to play music on the radio at an acceptable standard. That is to say at a quality equal to the AM radio reception I currently experience.
I hear many bagging the FM transmitters. Are there any good ones that you can recommend?

In cars that have and audio jack on the radio but no bluetooth can I just use a cable to connect the phone and play music.

I do not want any other capability but to play music.

I just bought a Motorola T505 for a good price on Ebay. I think the sound quality is easily as good as an AM station, and a good bit better in my opinion.

Someone on here recommended one of these recently...

Nexxus Drivetransmit Pro Bluetooth Hands Free car Kit With FM Transmitter - Mobiles at Play.com (UK)

Looks decent, .. I'm actually thinking of getting one myself soon.

Cheers

Damn that looks quite handy. Might have to get me one of them at the weekend!

I use a Belkin one that I used with my N96, it uses the lighter to charge but has a headphone jack to the phone. Works well but seeing that one above has made me want that now :D

It surprises me more phone manufacturers don't build this functionality in.

One of the reasons I previously used and now miss, my N78.

That's interesting, until 6 weeks ago I was using an N79 and also really miss the built in FM transmitter, and the phone generally to be honest. I find the speaker on the desire to be very poor.
