You are trying to create a folder where? On your sd card? Internal or external? Are you doing it on the computer or with your device?
In one sentence you say you can't delete the folders, and in the next sentence you say it was deleted.
Can you rephrase the question? I'm a little confused

I'm sorry just frustrated. I wanted to create a folder to move some pics. I did it thru device. Since it didn't let me I deleted but the icon is still there how do I get rid of it? The icon says hello on it.

Ah, I follow you now! Nice:)
Can you long press on that icon and drag it to the desktop and then the trash?
How did you create that folder?
I am rooted and on a completely different rom and launcher so I never tried it before I rooted. (rooted like 3 days after I got my phone). So please excuse my ignorance:)

Long press on an icon and drag it directly onto another to create a folder. At least, that's how 'most' launchers handle folder creation.

I think you're going about this the wrong way for the type of folder you're trying to make. From the home screen you can only make folders to store apps in. In order to make a folder to store individual picture files in, you would need a file manager app like Astro or Solid Explorer to manage files on your internal storage, just like how you would use Windows Explorer to create folders and copy files in windows.

Also, if you want to delete the folder on your homescreen, just long press it and drag it to the trash can icon that pops up.

Just a note:

Pictures can be moved via the gallery now, into any other folders containing pictures (/bluetooth /download /camera etc etc)

People still use the Gallery? Ever since I found QuickPic, I haven't looked back.

Matter of fact, I don't use any stock apps anymore. There's almost always better third-party options.

I want to thank everyone for your input. But I have tried holding the icon and dragging it in the trash but its still there when you hit menu an all the apps are there. The folder is still there and if I go to astro and look its not on there is just the app screen but not actually on the internal or external.

So it's in your app draw then? You should still be able to open your app draw, long press to drag and delete.

Failing that, open your app draw, press the left softkey and select edit, maybe you can delete it that way?

@XplosiV done did that also what everone else has said as well. It doesnt work believe me I tried. Ive done hits apps then i would go the folder and tap then the left key but nothing says delete and the edit just edit the name only, also ive done gone thru all the files i have and nothing even on the PC there is no folder that has that name?

Assuming your using UN-rooted stock launcher, I've just replicated and solved this on my phone. Lets see if it transfers.

From your home screen:

Tap apps (the circle with the squares in it) on your dock.

Tap left softkey (here there should be an option to edit and below that, create folder)

Tap edit (screen should visibly shrink)

Longpress the folder & drag to delete on top right of screen

Where as you may have been longpressing straight from the app draw when not in 'edit' mode, in which case the longpressing action will just create a shortcut onto your home screen.

Hope this helps.

spot on that would definitely delete the folder.

I hope this is not considered taking the thread in a wrong direction but since the thread is labeled just "Folders", I'll take a shot and if it is considered hijacking just let me know and I apologize ahead of time.

The question I have is how do you send things you've downloaded into those folders you've created?

This stems from an issue I had concerning overriding the default alarms on the phone and I was told to create a folder labeled "Alarms" and then put whatever alarm tone I've downloaded into there and the phone's default system will recognize it and allow you to choose it.

But when you go and get ring tones, alarm tones, etc. from the Verizon store or Zedge, you don't have the option of where to download them to. You just select your tone and hit download and off it goes into where I don't know.

For audio files you want to appear in stock options try the following:

Copy to, or create the following path(s) on your 'removable' (external) SD card

/media/audio/notifications/
/media/audio/alarms/
/media/audio/ringtones/

Then place any audio files you require into these folders.

Reboot your phone (to force a media rescan)

Check your available ringtones

Am i wrong or is there some confusion between desktop app folders and like storage folders within the phone/sd memory?

There is, but it's all good.

There are folders on the internal / external SD card, and users can also create folders in the app draw and on the home screen ;)

But how do you get to your SD card to create these folders? The only place I knew to create them to was from the phone's home screen.
