I have a friend with the LG G2. Nice phone. But no replaceable battery. Not sure about the SD card option.
The G2 doesn't have an sd card slot, so no problems with the kitkat update on that front

I replace my battery every couple of days, not because there is anything wrong with it but because it runs out and I carry a spare. In fact in 10 years of using phones with removable battery covers I've never replaced the battery.
Seriously though, IR isn't unique to Samsung, and I doubt it's a big point for most..

Having a replaceable battery is a very useful feature and was one of the key selling points of the S4 for me.
Since the OP is with Verizon, a 32GB S4 is a moot point since they don't sell it. They sell the 16GB version. Also that phone will only support up to a 64GB sd card. Right now it's $100 with 2 yr contract.
