I lol'd. And I admit to calling the phone a Cappy. But it actually sounds reasonably nice to say. T-mo folks can't walk around saying "Vibey", Sprint guys can't really throw down an "Eppy" (<--- I actually kind of like that one too), and I know someone might think you drank a cup of rainbows if you said "Fassy". Cappy fits. ;)

For some reasoned this reminded me of the time someone tried to popularize Dr.Inc... good days in the Incredible forums... But let me tell you that did not go over well with the Dinc only purists. Yet and still Dr.Inc still lingers...
 
I actually agree too haha.

I've been shortening it to "Capt" while typing ... Cappy sounds and looks weird. We need a cool nickname.
 
I think the first time I saw "Cappy," I thought it was "Crappy," which might have made sense because they were referring to the Touchwizz interface, which they didn't like. Anyway, it's a good enough reason not to use it.
 
I agree; cappy sucks! capty is no better.

how about "The Captain"!

When people ask me what phone I have I say galaxy s. I have no problem with the nickname cappy though, if used in these forums among people that know what your talking about
 
Yes, "Cappy" is pretty lame and unflattering. Just spend the extra 0.2 seconds and type "Captivate". Geez.

The name is "Captivate". Use it. If typing out 4 characters is too hard for you, step away from your keyboard, return your phone, and find the closest Quaker village to join it.
 
I agree that Captivate just sounds better. The downside is we all tend to be followers even if we pretend to be leaders. We want to see everyones screen so we can feed off their ideas, we want to know eachothers favorite apps so we can use them too. There is over 100,000 "Captivate" users with BIG CLOCKS and beautiful fancy weather icons and more than half of them could probably care less about the weather or what time it is. However, having said that I feel that "Cappy" is here for good because now that it is known as such and across forums, we will all follow slowly in its footsteps and begin referring to it as the "Cappy". I am only saying this btw because just 1 post ago I didnt even realize i did it, but when I posted it i used the new short CrAPPY name. Wheres that damn MIB forget sh*t light, so we can start over, lol

PS: I hate Clippy too, He destroys buildings!!
