For the people going commando

For the people who are caseless/skinless, how do you not scratch up the camera lens area?

I couldn't figure out how to lay the phone down at first. :)

Just did a search on google, someone recommended putting a screen protector on it. Sounds like a good idea.

I for sure recommend a screen protector.

I suggest one that isn't anti-glare. It takes away some of the brilliance in this display and distorts the 3D.

That's just my opinion though.

I also wouldn't go for Ghost Armour or Zagg. They are so thick you won't see the display as vibrantly.

I just have a basic one on here I picked up from Wireless Toyz.
It's cheaper if you order them on Amazon but I needed a protector.

Your best bet is get an Outerbox Case on ebay as i did Only $10 bucks and it came with the Screen Protector I put it on Perfect ! and its clear does not mess with the 3D at all .

He's not talking about the screen people... He's talking about the bezel around the camera. I agree with you about having problems laying the phone down.
Amazon.com: HTC Silicone Smerge for HTC EVO 3D - Retail Packaging - Black: Cell Phones & Accessories

This silicon case works well, is an official htc productm and hardly adds any bulk. Oh I also think that the back camera lens is gorilla glass. If you press on it when there is a reflection, you will see that there is no warping of the reflection.

I made that mistake and got one that was anti-glare.

They are great at first use, however, I'm not sure if it conflicts with the 3d system in the screen or what, but even in 2d mode, it made my eyes hurt after a short time.

I may toss a spare onto the Evo 4g just to see if it was the screen or the protector, but never again.

I'm always indoors. Anti-glare protectors are really only good if you are in a well lit area. Unfortunately with florescent lights, It can really make you feel sick if you've got that type of protector.

Though it certainly did make me feel even worse being on this screen. I don't know if it's the way the screen is made or what, But Anti-glare definitely didn't work out for me either..

Sorry, I thought they meant the front screen.

Best way I've heard to keep the camera lens unscratched is to buy a full body protector. Either that or some type of slip in case.

Any sort of screen protector over the camera will interfere with the quality of the shot.
That's my experience with it anyways.

You can buy replacements cheap on Ebay if the lens is scratched.

Personally, I just pay attention to where I set it down. It is kind of an odd design though. I don't know, I'm going to watch it and if it shows problems I'll replace it and deal with it then. I refuse to use a case.

I got a TPU case today and it's a lot slimmer and tighter fitting than the $3 black rubber skin I had on there before.

I am not so worried about going caseless now.

I haven't had any issues, I just set it down. Don't drop it or toss it or slide it. The glass is slightly recessed so it doesn't really touch anything when it's laying down. Don't put it in your pocket with your keys, that can be trouble. The way the back cover goes on, how it kinda wraps the phone, and the way it's textured, it kinda looks and feels like a case already. I've never used a case or a screen protector and see no reason to start, ymmv.

This times a million. My dad got an anti smudge/glare zagg on his iPad and it's horrendous. It diffuses the pixels way too much.

really can't recommend this case enough!

Really nice case without adding any extra bulk [ie. OtterBox] Good double layer protection. The silicone layer is raised around the camera lenses. So setting it down is a "no worry" event. Also comes with two nice screen protectors.

For 8.95 + free PRIME shipping... honestly if you want a nice case, it's a "no brainer"!

I might actually get another one before the price goes up... I bought mine for 5.95 before the EVO V launch, and this price must be raising with demand.

Still seems like most people are way off topic here. :)

They're asking for the people who are going WITHOUT A CASE (like me), what are they doing to protect the glass over the camera lens.

Anyway... I never really thought of putting a screen protector on the lens, but like you said, it's and oddly shaped camera with the dual lenses. So getting a protector and cutting it to the right size might not be a bad idea.

However, I'm not only against cases for my devices, I also don't use screen protectors. I like to live dangerously.

I used this for the screen protector....

3xNew Clear Screen Guard Protector Film For HTC EVO 3D | eBay

They work great and take some of the glare off the screen (takes a few days for them to feel smooth though).

You can easily take one and cut it down to work on the front camera screen since it is flat and smooth. I would suggest a razor though, since scissors may bend the edge where you cut and cause it not to lay down.

The rear cover bezel around the lens area will take most of the abuse, and it just gets replaced along with the cover.

I'll stay on topic here. I hate cases/screen protectors. I just like the feeling and look of the original glass. I figure with technology going forward so fast, why act "anal" about technology that gets outdated every year or two. Just use it without worrying about it. A scratch or two isn't a big deal. I rather have fun with it and not worry about small stuff. Don't get me wrong, I don't abuse the phone. I do take care of it, but am not "anal" over it.

When putting it on a table, I try to put it on something soft, camera side down, if available. A piece of paper, notebook, napkin, etc. Sometimes even on a hard table if nothing else is available. And although I may use the camera for fun once in a while, I never rely on it for serious pictures.

Cases just make the phone bulkier than it needs to be. Then you have issues with fitting in different car kits and belt holsters. I just bought the OEM car mount from e-bay. Still looking for a belt holster. Looks like the OEM belt holsters also comes with a case. Don't know how that would fit in the OEM car mount? But this is for the accessories thread.

Go commando and enjoy. Don't worry about every little scratch. These things are disposable and the value drops significantly every year.
