For those already on android, what apps to put on the evo first?

Yes, it is supposed to do all the work for you. Once you get the phone, you install AppBrain, and it does the rest.

appbrain lets you find apps on your computer. its all free (signup). some apps cost money, but most are free. just find the app you want, click "add to list" and thats it. on your phone, download "appbrain market sync" and it will automatically take all apps from your list and download them onto your phone.

I too will be new to the EVO...old pre user...so excited!!

do you need a gmail account to DL apps? also, if you need to get a new phone(lose it ect), how are the apps/settings on the evo backed up and transferred to the new handset?

Thanks for the link...I took a look and found the piece to see if it could pick up the station you want. Unfortunately, it couldn't stream the station I want...KUBE93 out of Seattle...the place I miss so, so much.

I kept getting the AppBrain 400 Server error thing too for a while and it was bugging me. I think someone else had mentioned this, so I tried it too: I deleted the account I set up (that page was occasionally accessible, it was the app pages that were not working for me), then simply re-set it up. Difference this time: I got a confirmation email and now all works fine.

I'm new to it, but it's a file manager and then some.

You can do stuff like move/sort files around on your SD card. You can use it as a picture browser too. Maybe you just downloaded a bunch of ROMs and want to put them into a different folder on your SD card? It seems there's some sort of file backup functionality as well, but I haven't toyed with it yet. There's a Process/Task manager built in as well.

Presuming you have a solid Internet connection, I'd say it took me maybe 20 - 60 seconds per app?

Slap on the AppBrain app first, and that'll allow you to connect to your list. It has to be the base "Apps on my Phone" list too - if you've created custom lists the AppBrain app has no visibility on it. That threw me for a loop as I created several custom lists for myself.

Then once you're in the AppBrain app, it'll tie into the Android Marketplace app and install each one by one. You have to authorize each one, so this isn't a "batch all and walk away" sort of thing. But it's pretty painless. I did most of mine (about 40-50) while in a status meeting!

Otherwise you have to slog through the Android Market and find each and every app you want to install.

i didnt like sports tap at all when i had it... i thought sportacular was one of the best ones when ihad my iphone

Agreed, Sportacular is the go to sports score app on my iPhone. And I have ESPN Scorecenter, Fox Sports, CBS Sports, and I always go back to Sportacular. Has a great and simple UI.

So once I do get the phone, I assume it's easy to install them from AppBrain? Do I have to connect my phone to my computer with the USB cable?
