Root For those with so many problems with dl09 that are rooting

There are many I'll say many threads with multiple complaints about problems with DL09. Then their are many other threads about problems with rooting DL09 and also the problems rooting is causing these people. I just don't understand why the people that are rooting their phones do not just go to DJ05? From what I have read and experienced there are no major bugs in it, it has the same fixes in it as DL09, and it doesn't have any of the problems that are posted for DL09 (examples: connecting to computer, changing file names to root, multiple tries with clockwork to get bluetooth to work, etc).

I just figured I would post this to see what kind of response I would get from the people that are having so many problems. I also wanted to post it to get thoughts from the regular "helpers" about me setting up instructions if their is a big response to this. I feel pretty confident in posting the instructions but would all of the "helpers" be willing to look them over and post things that I may miss before I say these are the official instructions on how to push/ flash the correct radio, rom, and kernel. If anyone of the mods, guides,or,regulars think this is a bad idea please feel free to just say hey I don't think thats a good idea, I will take no offense and will not second guess your judgement. I feel that I have made great strides in here in a somewhat short amount of time (not blowing my own horn there by any way lol) but I feel there are people in here that have more knowledge and I want your honest opinion. Thanks to all for taking time to read this over and have a great day :D

Speaking for myself....

I just want root on the current version of OS. If the root goes away, then I want to root the patched OS that made it go away. If a new version of the OS comes about (Version B), I want to make sure that I either know that I need to de-root my current version (Version A) before updating and how to re-root the new version, or should I just leave the root on version A before I upgrade to Version B because rooting will be easier for Ver B.

I also came into the game of rooting late. I got my phone on Black Friday. I played with it for a few weeks before opting to root, and when I checked out methods for doing so, I found the simplest and just rooted. No desires for DJ05, kernels, etc.

My guess is that those with the commitment are doing what they should, and those without, are confused. I don't see a matrix anywhere, or "truth table" that shows that if you have X, Y and Z that you should also have A, B and C, and here's why... Something like that would offer reasoning for the choices available, as well as have one place to look and see the who's, what's and why's of one modification or combo over another.

Again, I just want root and I'll control the rest of my Android destiny.

SuD.

Personally, I think you would be a great person to help people. I have had you help me out of a brick, so I feel confident you could help other people. :) I know I throw your name out there with nit, saps, and frisco to people needing help. (Don't mean to ofeend anyone else, just don't know who else can help:))

Afwiw, I rooted dl09 on my laptop just fine with the one click thing I think. It was what was posted when we were still on di01.

Yea same concept as DJ05. And I appreciate the confidence. Just hoping to hear some feedback before going through putting it together basically for nothing ;) if no 1 is gonna use it because they see dl09 to be the better thing. Personally it doesn't matter to me, I'm staying on dj05 until soon when I jump to froyo. I just thought it may save some troubles for people.

You def. helped me out thru my issues, so I would feel confident following your instructions. The only reason I went with DL09, was I was under the impression it was a revised DJ05 that resolved some issues. If that is not the case, and since we know the CWM works well with DJ05 I would be happy to reflash and reload (since I have a workable backup in CWM now)

Thanks

Alright thanks for the support. I'm going to give it a lil time to see how it all unfolds in here. But no matter what if you or anyone else is interested I will be happy, after I get it all compiled, to pm or email (your preference) the instructions.

Yea pretty much, but borrow adryns DI01 to start off fresh. And go straight from di01 to dj05 by loading radio in odin. Kernel and rom through clockwork. And this should fix all the problems all over the boards for the root crowd at least.

ah ok...just trying to clarify :)

Ok to kinda clue you in where I'm coming from I got bored and wanted to see if I could replicate problems ppl were having after rooting dl09. So I backed up everything and pushed di01 in odin that way I would start right where the othet ppl were starting. I then pushed dl09 and tried the various methods of rooting that have stated in the many posts. All ending up with the problems that are being discussed. So that led me to think that maybe the problem could be something to do with the batched files going through odin, I don't know how to explain why it was just an idea at the time. So I pushed di01 through odin again. This time I loaded dj05 radio through odin, and rom/kernel flashed in clockwork. After doing this I rerooted through the sticky at the to of "all things root". Bam no problems at all. Just went back reloaded my data, and then reinstalled my voodoo and back to same place I was to begin with. No problems at all. :D so now can I get your opinions

Edit flipped 2 things around after di01 the 2nd time I rooted first before loading dj05. Sorry was sitting in car trying to swype this off the top of my head.

Edit #2 I'm sure everyone can see but thought I'd add it anyways, this is not in anyway supposed to be directions on how to do this. It is simply to let ppl know where I'm coming from. Also wanted to add that I'm not positive that it will work for everyone I was able to force the computer to see phone so... Its only an idea

I think a ton of people are rooting right now to get ready for a completed 2.2. (my reason at least) So imho the writer of a compressive guide should A. get a beer also and B. start from the ground and go all the way to froyo or GB which ever is available.

All the rooter would have to know is current kernel and then jump into the instructions where needed.

Yeah it looks like to get on kaos froyo no matter when you ll have to be on voodoo5 prior...,but other than that a decent working knowledge of adb/terminal commands is always a good idea. :)

I think the idea of this was a decent idea, I think I just waited to late. It kind of disappoints me that I had the idea of doing this the day that all the problems started but I shrugged it off thinking well someone is going to fix it thats smarter at this than I am. But I guess one thing I have learned from this is if I have an idea just throw it out there, what's the worst that can happen right? I appreciate everyones thoughts about it.

I do want to add to anyone that did have any interest that if your dl09 is pretty much stable I would just hang with it you won't see any significant changes. But if you are still having problems that refer to what I've talked about earlier feel free to pm me and we will talk about it to see where it goes.

Thank you again to everyone for any interests and feedback.

Well maybe an informational thread on where to find the appropriate threads would be of help for people to self heal their phones.

Where can I find this information. I will be running 2.2 soon whether I know what I am doing or not. I will get it done. And is there a program that can tell you what kernel, rom , and theme your running? I know theme but can't find my kernel or rom.
