I thot this may be of some interest to folks who may want some root access, but feel other methods may be a bit over their heads  :)

Looks like it requires an hboot update.

yup... to 1.02.0000

after you submit your identifier token and flash the unlock.bin:

you can now fastboot flash recoveries, boot and system images. with other htcdev unlocks you can "fastboot boot" recoveries as well, but that doesnt seem to be working, for some reason... i get a "cant load" error :(

its also worth mentioning if anyone wants to try this that you need to also be on the GB radio or you get a "FAILED! malformed" error when trying to get the identifier token. i was on froyo and flashed the radio only and then it worked.

you may need to be on GB in order to run the RUU,if you are s-on.im not sure as mine was allready s-off. id also pretty strongly reccomend NOT doing this unless you are s-off. while it is probably possible to downgrade away from it to froyo or earlier GB,it is possible that there is something in this hboot that prevents you from overwriting it if youre s-on(read:you are stuck with it forever with no way to downgrade or change the radio).

just so there is no confusion,s-off is NOT an end result of this,i was that way prior. if you do this with s-on,your hboot will still say s-on,along with the *unlocked*after unlocking.

htc dev does give access to boot/system/recovery,and is good enuff for most folks to flash roms and be happy, but it is not the same as an unsecured bootloader. with s-off,you can do anything you want. with htcdev s-on,you cannot flash radios,or go backwards in firmware with RUUs.

hope this helps anyone who is curious about it. :)

last and not least,if anyone wants it,heres a PG31IMG of the *locked*1.02.0000 hboot :)

Thanks for being the guinea pig Scotty, I was going to try it today too.

lol,not a prollem, sir. this is the kind of stuff i really get a kick out of. :D

if your s-offed,IMO its worth doin since it lets you do a lil more with fastboot. ive actually been running the htcdev unlocked hboot on all my devices that i cant get an eng hboot for(merge, wildfire s,now inc) and ive gone thru it on my inc 2 as well. havent done my TB cause i still got warranty on that ;)
