Thanks for the info. Here's the "Big Picture" for us...
We have never had phones with web access. I'm getting the Moto Droid and my wife is getting the enV Touch.
We plan to go with the Nationwide Select Family SharePlan 700. The Droid will require the $29.99 Email/Web for Smartphone. For the enV Touch, we think we will start with the $9.99 25MB Data Package.
1. If you have personal knowledge of this, what can she expect to be able to do with 25MB/month? We're not sure what to expect.
2. Does this plan make sense to start with?

Sounds great, but I would change one thing. Have her line be the primary so you can put her on a "Connect" plan. You can be a secondary line with the "Select" plan. The purpose of doing this is that the Connect plan is $10 more than the Select plan, but she would get unlimited data, as opposed to the $9.99 for 25 mb. (If there's two lines on an account and one wants the unlimited data through the price plan, that one needs to be the primary phone, where as the $29.99 smartphone data feature can go on any line).
I think you'll agree, .01 for unlimited data is great for her to not have to worry about what she can or can't do online, plus it adds the ability to have her email downloaded to her phone for no additional charge

+1 on this. This is the exact same setup that my wife and I have on our account and it works out great.

I just learned today that the secondary line gets unlimited texts because I have the premium plan. So, would switching the two give the secondary line navigator as well? Unlimited text and email?

The mandatory data plan came after you got it. Only new purchases or activations require it.

Secondary lines on the Select plan automatically get unlimited texting, but it doesn't work the same Connect or Premium plans. For Connect, the secondary lines go from 9.99 to 19.99 to include unlimited data and email, and to have secondary lines on the Premium plan it's 29.99 to have vznav and vcast videos added on to the unlimited data and unlimited texting.
Just to clarify, any time the Primary line is Select, Connect or Premium, the secondary line automatically has unlimited text included, but you need to pay extra for anything beyond that.
Thanks, ggp. I'll be getting the Droid next week, and currently have the Dare. I'm not totally sure how the plan will change, but I do know that it will be somewhat different because it uses the smart phone data plan instead, and the Droid doesn't need vzNavigator. I'm not sure if I would have Select or Connect with the Droid being a smart phone with unlimited services. (I should probably google Select and Connect! lol)
What I'm trying to understand is regarding the secondary (voice only) line being switched to the primary. My line being currently primary, I'll still have everything unlimited. If I change my line to a secondary unlimited line, with the primary line being only voice, would the primary line get unlimited everything for an additional $10 per month?

Doesn't sound to me like you need to change your primary and secondary lines if I'm understanding you correctly.
Do you or your other line text? If both do, you may want to go with a Select plan, if one or neither do, then a Basic (voice only) plan would be best, and just put a text feature on who's ever line does the texting. The data for the Droid is added as a feature, so you would not get the Connect plan on your line.
The only reason you would want to change your secondary to primary is if that person plans on using data on their non-smartphone, and does a lot of texting, then you'd want them on the Connect plan.
Other reasons for keeping your line primary... do you have a discount through your work? If so, if there is a discount on data, it's only for the primary line, so you'd want to keep yours there. Also, switching primary and secondary could have an effect on your NE2 eligibility, so you may want to be careful of that.
Email & vzNav would be nice on the secondary line, but it's not really *needed*.
I was just on Verizon's site, and I believe the phone rep recommended Basic with the $44.99 Unlimited Data, plus 5000 text. (However, I was told over the phone that it would give me unlimited text & picture, etc.)
My concern with the Basic plan would be whether any limitations would be put on my phone usage. (The user of the secondary line has another cell, so it's not really a huge deal.) I don't like to find changes in my bill. Verizon is usually pretty good with helping me out, but every now and then I get conflicting information.

Basic plans are voice only, which means additional features cost separate. Not sure what kind of "limitations" you're concerned about.
5000 text feature means 5000 to non VZW phones but unlimited messaging to VZW phones. If you truly need this much, and your secondary line does any texting at all, then you might as well get the Select plan which means unlimited messaging to all carriers.
You probably can go with 29.99 data unless you need to use your phone through your employer's enterprise server. All other email is considered "personal" and the 29.99 data is still unlimited.
Depending how much email and vznav the secondary line might do, if it's like almost a daily thing, then you may want to put it on a premium plan, which will then automatically put unlimited texting on all lines. If it's not so often, you can choose to provision vznav for a 24 hour period for only 2.99 instead of paying for the entire month, and the email application on the phone is 5.00 when separate, plus you pay for data, but if this user is only checking emails a couple times per month, then paying as you go for data would be cheaper at 1.99 per megabyte instead of going with 9.99 for 25 megabytes, because they probably wouldn't be using that much.

I think the best deal for you, if you don't need data or texting on your secondary line, would be to keep it there, stay on the basic plan and keep texting on your line, along with the 29.99 data plan when you get your droid. No sense in paying for things you don't need and aren't required

I don't believe I can switch the two lines anyway because of the discount. But I'll start low with the plans and work my way up if needed. Thanks!
