forgot to do nandroid backup (GSM hero)

ok so i rooted my GSM hero and i forgot to do a nandroid backup before i loaded my custom ROM. i want to go back to the stock ROM. how do i go about doing that?? i currently have the phone booted up into recovery mode???

You should be able to reinstall the latest official firmware to put everything back to stock.

well i flashed my old ROM ChocolateEclair so now i can at least use the phone but i still have no backup. can i use flashrec to go back to the recovery-RA-v1.6.2 recovery image then backup from there and load reload my ROM?

(looks good on paper)

Hang on, which ROM do you want to reload to? (I'm not quite following whether you want to return to the stock ROM temporarily or permanently).

If you want to have a stock rom you can either:
-Flash an update.zip version of your firmware (found here). That allows you to keep access to your amon ra recovery menu, but your phone isn't 100% stock.

-Do the above but then restore your old, backed up recovery image using flashrec. (You definitely made one of these).

-Or, reinstal the official firmware using one of the .exe files released by HTC.
