Forgotten pattern password

Hi

I need some help on how to reset my phone to factory settings. I've had it a week and somehow I've forgotten my pass pattern. I am permanently locked out of the phone.

I've tried everything on google. Got in touch with HTC and the recommended as below:

I would advise to reset you phone via hardware which means by buttons.

With the phone turned on, press and hold the Power and Volume up buttons for approximately 10 seconds.
Note: Performing a factory reset via hardware will automatically wipe ALL DATA from the device, including the built in 32GB memory. Make sure to back up all data before performing this process if possible.
As soon as the screen turns off, immediately release the Volume Up button, and press and hold the Volume Down button.
After a few seconds, the htc download mode will appear, at which point release the Volume down and Power buttons.
Press the Volume down button seven times to highlight factory reset.
Press the Power button.
The device will be restored to factory settings.

I have tried this but it doesn't take me to a factory settings page. It takes me to HTC download mode which says ***locked*** and doesn't give me a return to factory settings option.

Does anyone have any ideas what I can do? I've contacted vodafone who suggested pluggng it in to my computer but this hasn't done anything either. I feel like sending it back.

Long press (10 <POWER> and <VOLUME UP> simultaneously to initiate a reboot. Once on the white HCT boot screen, long press (for AT Least 10 sec.) <POWER>,<VOLUME UP> and <VOLUME DOWN> simultaneously to access the boot loader screen. Follow the instructions to select the "BOOT TO RECOVERY" option.

I found this article online http://www.androidexplained.com/htc-one-m9-recovery-mode/

Good Luck!

Wouldn't doing a reset still cause the user to enter the pattern since it's a kill switch feature in 5.0? If it doesn't well you're in luck, follow what BA100 said. If that doesn't work your last chance is to see if you remember your gmail password.

You can always bypass it on android.com/devicemanager if you know your gmail login and lock it! That will bypass whatever lock screen that you have on your android device
