Im about to flash a new Rom and want to have a clean out.

Can I format the internal and external memory. Will the phone still boot as then I can connect to my PC copy the Rom zip file over and then flash through CWM.

Just want to check before I do something stupid. :o

What im really asking if I format the internal card where the ROM zip is will this also erase the zip file

I'm only new here and new to all this so don't take my word for it, but if you wipe internal and external, then you'll have absolutely nothing left??

In that case i don't see your device booting up as there will be nothing to boot.. aren't you better off cleaning up your external manually, then saving the rom onto the external, along with a backup(Nandroid, Titanium & /efs) (just in case) so that when you perform a wipe of the internal you can flash the new rom right away..

Also if anything goes wrong you still have a backup to restore to.

As I say I have only been on the forums for a couple of days and am fairly new, so dont hold me to it, id wait for someone with more experience to reply.

As another member wisely told me the other day If in doubt, Leave it out. :D

As I say someone with more experience than me will probably give you better advice and direction!

The If in doubt, leave it out.. Was Ironass btw, i probably would have bricked my device without Ironass :D

If you flash via odin, then the zip will be on your PC rather than your mobile.

That's true, what about any backups, wouldn't they get wiped if the external is wiped ? leaving no safety net?

Also with everything wiped would it still boot into Download mode? You use download mode to flash with odin don't you ?

Can't remember :o

Not sure about how things would work with the backups. Maybe you could format the internal, transfer the backup to there then format the external (or vice versa).

There's 2 versions of Odin. One for the PC & a mobile version from the Play store. So you could use either.
