Formatting 32 GB

It is easiest to do it in the Desire plus then it is formatted correctly.
Go into menu > Settings > SD card and phone storage and within there is format SD card.
If you do have anything on the card it will be lost so make sure you back anything up onto your PC.

I didn't think you had to format a card, just plonk it in and off you go (whch is what I did!)? What are the benefits of formatting?

I've yet to have a 32GB card work in my Desire. I've formatted all ways and never had it be able to reliably read anything off the card (music, video, etc.). I've resorted to going back to a 16GB card which works fine.
Maybe because the two 32GB cards I have are from Chinese origin although they work fine in a card reader.

I've got a Scandisk one and it works' ok... That's why I'm a bit mystified about the pros and cons of formatting before use.
You are probably right and I won't need to format it. I was just checking how to do it if needed.
They will be fake and not 32GB I suspect

You need to format the card inside the Desire.
After format the Desire creates oem dir files
