Root formatting ext3....

ok so atm im currently running insertcoinHD rom... but found a new one i want to try ... this will be my first change of custom rom..

i ahve the new rom file i want to install seen here:

[ROM][New Sense HD] SupeROM HD V1.0 05/03/2011 Stable|Fast|Full RTL|A2SD+|D2WE|D2EXT - xda-developers

im going to use the A2SD version and the install guide states

Wipe Data, Wipe Cache, Wipe Davlik, Wipe SD-EXT.
* A2SD version - Fat + Ext3/4, 0.5-1.5GB.

ok so i know how to whipe it like it did last time, but how do i whipe the sd partition... does this mean i have to empty my card out yet again to whipe it. or is there a setting i can hit to whipe JUST the 512 partition..

im keeping with 512 as this is enough for me and dun see a need for more so im not after changing the partition just format that


in recovery boot i have optioons to
wipe data/factory reset - i will need to hit this...
wipe cache partition - is this the ext partition?
install zip - to get the new rom up and running (right?)

quick reply please as im bored and have an hour free :)
 
but it wont touch my data on the sd card? so all images and music etc will be safe, aswell as my "mybackup pro" files so i can restore my texts and the like.

so if i hit wipe data/factory reset all i need to do is hit install from zip and im good?
 
Also, the cache partition is not the same as the ext. If you're using clockworkmod recovery you can clear sd-ext by selecting 'format sd-ext' under mounts & storage.
 
^^ ah this is what i was looking for..

so to do the new rom hit the factory... then hit sd-ext... should i clear any others under this extra menu?

its been a while since i put this rom on so i cant remember which i hit lol
 
As SUroot pointed out above, wiping data will wipe sd-ext and dalvik also. So, if you want to make extra sure, just wipe data, format cache then you should be good to go with the ROM flash.
 
I'm curious about this rom too, let us know your findings! ;)

Not understanding the wipe ext3 part though.
 
actually the best sense hd rom ive tried... its so fast and stable everything works ... well worth flashing.. and im planning on keeping this at least untill a gingersense rom is made///
 
Tried it and internal memory is awful, very laggy too compared to Insertcoin or even Reflex.
 
id say its faster than insertcoin and doesnt lag at all with me... my internal memory after installing all my apps back... at least 25 :

a2sd storage: 136mb
internal storage: 85mb

and the battery level seems better than standard.. although it did drop rather quickly last night but that was constant installing and restoring sync etc.

today been unplugged since 7am and im on 90% now with alot of play

I'm talking to the dev right now on xda about it.

Insertcoin is the fastest rom so far though, too bad the dev is so arrogant.
