former droid X owners

tonight for the first time in a couple of weeks, i used my old droid X again. i sold it to a buddy. so i was loading some apps for him. i cant believe how slow and laggy it feels compared to my bionic. so glad i upgraded. anyone else tried this? i really never noticed it was that slow until having this beast of a bionic in my hands.

I go further back than that.

I went from my old "original standard" Droid, now to the Bionic, and it's night and day.

What a difference a couple of years, and a couple of cores, makes. :)

also i think the main thing is RAM. my X would only have 40MB free with all of my default apps loaded. now i have around 350 to 400 free. its so nice to have 1GB of ram. dual core definitely doesnt hurt.

Yeah I am happy I switch the the Bionic. While I was happy with the X , I think the Bionic will last me a while now

I could not agree more. I loved my X, but when I needed to get an upgrade to give my son my X I was not sure. After almost two weeks I am VERY happy with the Bionic. The X is still a great phone and was the first of its kind. However the Bionic adds everything I would have liked to have had on my X as well. While at first it did not seem like a huge upgrade, it really is. As long as there is the same type of development for the Bionic as there was the X we will be golden.

One nice thing I have noticed is that even on 3G (no LTE until Nov) my download and upload speeds are 2x to 3x faster.

My wife has my DX running Liquid 2.6 and its pretty fast. Not as fast as the Bionic but not laggy either.

once you get LTE in your area your gonna have a whole new phone.

I noticed that as well. I didn't realize that the phone itself would make so much of a difference for download times. I always thought that it was the network speed that counted most.
Pleasantly surprising, to say the least.

I know, I keep get upset to see all these smaller midwest towns getting LTE turned on and here we are in KC and it is not on yet. The airport my office is near the airport, on the other side of the building if the weather is right I can get a LTE signal. November can't get here soon enough!

My son has the D3 and I have the DX. I noticed the same thing you are talking about. He's all smug about his phone speed, but I'm just biding my time until the Nexus Prime or some future summertime quad-core phone comes, in order to put him (and you all) his place. :p

Steven we would love to see you come to the dark side. The Bionic is a really nice phone. However I know your stance, you want a phone without an encrypted bootloader. Feel free to stop by and say hi to use any time!

Yeah, I still have my OG Droid and sometimes I pick it up just to mess around or let my son play Cut the Rope on it... the thing just feels bulky, heavy with a teeny weeny little screen and SO SLOW!!!! It might not be 100% flawless but I LOVE my Bionic!

Yes, I actually noticed this on my PC as well. I didn't realize how much the speed of the device (or PC) helps with internet speeds etc. I bought a new PC for my mother and was setting it up on my home network.. my Internet was never so fast as it was on her PC... I didn't really expect it to make so much of a difference.

I won't be a stranger. Thanks for the invite. :D I did try the bionic out in the store and loved it. I must say that I'm a lover of GingerBlur, especially as it is on the dual-core models. I play with and marvel at my son's phone daily.

Motorola build? The best. None better. Actually, I still love my DX. :p

I also had the X and didn't realize how much faster the bionic was until I went back and played with the X. I met up with a coworker the other day who still has the X. When I told him that I got the bionic he responded with frustration, "people think their new phones are soooooo much faster, but in reality the speed is almost insignificant". I said, you might be right. Why don't you take my phone and start surfing with your phone next to it so we can see the difference. I do have 4G here so I knew there would be no comparison. It ended with "OH MY GOSH! That is very significant"

The other big thing I have noticed is the screen. At first I was not overly happy about the pentile screen coming from the X. However I have grown to love it. Yes it some apps I can still see the pattern. However coming from the X where my screen would take up 35+% of my battery usage and now it around 10% that is amazing. Also the screen looks amazing in direct sunlight. I can usually set it to 45% and have a great view of the screen in direct sunlight. The rest of the time I have it set to minimum and it is plenty bright (if not too bright). Last night I was trying to kill my battery to finish a battery calibration (extended battery). I had gone through my work day with my standard use at right about 55% left (losing 5% an hour) I did not put my phone down at all last night and finally started streaming a movie on HBOGo to try and kill it at 10:00 when I was down to 18%, after 11:15 the battery FINALLY died. I was amazed at how crisp the picture actually looked while watching the movie.

I just can't wait until I get LTE in KC and can really rock this thing.

I just upgraded to the Bionic from the DX yesterday. I live in Albuquerque and 4G won't be turned on until October 20th, (11 more days, can't wait!).

I AM using the original DROID and it is DEFINITELY agonizingly S.L.O.W.! I am seriously thinking about buying the Bionic, as soon as I can get some user feedback on how well it's GPS feature works. I tried the Samsung Galaxy and sold it after the GPS either kept dropping or could never be located.

yeah i didnt think it would be that much quicker myself. but i wanted the 4G cause i knew it would be an upgrade. everything about the phone is faster.
