forum or family

Family Forum is my vote.

Since I joined AF I have had a child, been promoted twice and leaned on some members through life's many struggles. I can honestly say and truly believe that I am a better father, husband and employee because of my addiction to making my phone and tablet awesome sauce.

From Rob all the way down to the member who just finished signing up moments before I completed this post, AF is and always will be a family man's/woman's forum.

My 2

The appreciation goes to all users and members of the site. As a team we make it work. Rob and Phases had a vision which by itself is useless its the action that has made the vision a success. Here you don't get "Well didn't you do a search" or Mod's or Guides who are to busy to take time to make you feel human. When I was just a member I had written to several Guides and even to Phases and not one time did I feel like I was less than. They did their best to go out of the way to help me or to just listen to an idea that I had. Unlike other forums I've been to that I would never even get a reply from one of the admin workers. We are better than family and more than information we are partners all after the same thing. We are Brothers and Sisters most importantly we are real. This forum isn't the best because of the information this forum is the best because of the people behind it. All of them from the guy/gal who is signing up now to Rob and Phases. Members make this the greatest forum on earth.

So I may not know you guys but I feel like I can come here and just vent if need be. To me this is not a forum but a new family I now have so the question is. Is this just a forum for useful information or does it mean more to to you

I know I've come to love this place, and it's definitely something I look forward to on a daily basis. There is a certain satisfaction to be had from helping other people share something that you love to do.

For me, it's tech, and included in tech is Android. IRL friends and family tend to roll their eyes at me when I try to share a new rom/feature/app with them but on here, it's different. It's more people who share the same enthusiasm for something I do, much like other modding communities.

I've also made a few friends on here, some of them which I draw upon regularly for guidance as their life experience and perspective that comes with it greatly surpasses my own.

So yes, I do consider AF as part of an extended family, because heck, I like being here/talking more than I do some of my in-laws! ;O

IRL my friends/family also starts rolling their eyes once I get revved up about my phone or any phone for that matter but within no time we're all sitting in a huddle showing what our phones can do. I get a devilish kick every time someone utters....my phone cant do that.

I'm a firm believer that one of the things about a forum being an extended family has to do with the positive or negative energy YOU bring. When it's positive it radiates from you and into the words you use to reach out to others.
When it's negative, you're just going to bring out the negativity in others and then you end up with those family members you hope don't show up at the family reunion. :D

ive been here since February of 2011 and i really do feel like ive gotten to know a few people that hang around here. you guys really do in a way feel like an extended family!

It's definitely family for me. Luckily AF was my very first forum experience. I came here while waiting for what seemed months for my ordered phone to arrive.
I immediately felt welcomed and accepted though I knew nothing about phones. I fell in love with the community and have never left.

Through my years here I've joined a number of other mini interest forums. I have yet to find any sort of camaraderie from any of them. I have felt like an outsider that was not wanted or appreciated. Like I was crashing a party.

I enjoy these forums because the people here care and enjoy sharing their insight with friendliness. I am proud to be a user here. I'm fortunate to be a part of this family. I treasure my time here and enjoy every user I get to meet. Everyone lends to the atmosphere. It's our forum. Without each and every one of us.. this place would not be the cherished refuge it is.

Definitely another family for me. If you only *knew* how much time I was spending in forums games in the past... ;)

In my opinion, this is a very rare site. I've joined a few forums in the past... I was a member of a blackberry forum, an animation forum, a video game forum, and several other sites that weren't 'forums'.... all of those sites were merely tools for me to learn more. I did spend a few months on the animation forum, which was the longest for me at that point (100+ posts!)... but none of them were able to hold me in like this site.

I personally think that there are some subliminal messages flashing in the background saying "One more post," and "Wait, don't close yet!"... :D It truly is a remarkable site.

I can't help but be reminded of the interactive TV "family" described in "Fahrenheit 451".

I'm an old-timer who used to haunt dial-up BBS forums before the interwebs came along. I enjoy the instant access and the ability to meet people that you wouldn't run into otherwise. The latter can be a blessing and a curse though. ;)

I look at BBS-style forums as a unique way of interaction that can lead to great friendships and more. But I personally don't see it as a replacement for, or equal to a real family. I like hanging out in places like this, but IMO nothing beats face to face, flesh and blood contact with others.

Aside from that, it is what we make of it collectively. IME this is one of the better places without a doubt.

I found this community when I got my phone and then was trying to make it better. The people here are so nice and helpful. Everyone is like a brother or sister here! I have never really been on other forums, but from what others say about other forums this place is #1 for sure! I have learned so much from all of the people here. I have made so many friends too!!!We also have to give MAJOR credit to all the GUIDES and MODS here that are so helpful to our NEEDS and keeping the PEACE and this place in TIP TOP SHAPE!!!!!!! So yes I consider all of you part of my FAMILY and I hope you all feel the same about me!!! I wish we could all get together and have a great big picnic like a reunion!!!! That would be fun!!

Every forum I join starts out as just a forum, but as I spend more time on each forum, getting to know people, they become like family. I am getting close to this place becoming "family" :D
