Forums for Android: App Update Brings "Communities"

We've gotten a TON of feedback about our completely overhauled app: Forums for Android. There are lots of people who LOVE the automatic detection of their device, carrier, apps, and games, making it easy to discuss topics specific to them. But the #1 request has been to let users explore other parts of the forum as well.

Now you can!

The new version of Forums for Android brings a feature we're calling "Communities". You'll now find 3 sections in your "Forums" list:
  1. Favorites - items you've "starred" that you want to access frequently (syncs with website favorites)
  2. Communities - forums you've manually added in the app with the + button
  3. This Device - content automatically detected with our app's secret magic detection doohickey
The "Communities" section allows you to add:
  • Devices
  • Apps & Games
  • Topics
We will be adding, editing, and refining the content you see on the "Topics" list and are listening to your opinions and feedback. Please let us know what you think about this update in the comments!

If you have specific requests you'd like to have a conversation about on their own, we suggest you post them in the "Forums for Android" forum!

There's a LOT of apps forums and devices... and as new apps are being written every day, new devices being launched...

Manually adding everything that I might be interested in, could be a full time job!

Could we have a button to "show me everything" for the people who want to see everything?
(or am I missing the point all together)

This is something we have planned but it's easier said than done. It will likely come in the form of a Timeline filter in much the same way that the website homepage now has a filter. But that'll be a future update!

I noticed earlier that I visited a thread in the app and it automatically subscribed me to it.
I am not sure how this is possible but I have seen crazier things happen. I will keep an eye out for this but if can recreate this let me know how. Could it have been a bug (or is a bug) with the thread just showing the watched status?

Attached is a new build that addresses all of the crashes that were reported. If you were having issues on load, this build should resolve that issue. Let me know either way... Thanks!

"Error viewing media please try again later" when downloading from app.

7a failed on my Turbo 2, Turbo, and Maxx

Does this one let the app recognize the Kindle Fire HD 8 (Gen 6 2016 version)?

I could be that I'm subscribed to the Lounge for "New Threads" and visited an existing thread using the app. :dontknow:

I'd like jump to first unread when opening a thread. It's jump to last post. Then I have to scroll back to figure out where I was.

These are options in Tapatalk.

Is there an unread indicator in My Stuff? I'm looking at the timestamp to figure out what is new but I'm not sure so I have to pick a thread further back to see if I already read it.

Not currently. I plan on adding read / unread throughout the app where needed.

On the to-do list.

The app should clear notifications when opened directly.

I was a Tapatalk beta tester for years. I would call them a chaotic organization, but they aren't that organized.

Good to see this app for my favorite forum.
