Forward Yahoo Mail to Gmail Free!

Just thought I would share a little information I have found with my fellow Droid owners.

This guide will allow you to (freely) forward your Yahoo! email to a newly created (or old) Gmail Account for easier integration with your Droid (or other Android Devices) without paying the $20 a month Yahoo! requires for premium service.

First create your Gmail account if you do not already have one.
Also I am coming from the "New Yahoo"

Step 1: Sign into Yahoo Mail

Step 2: Click options on the upper right hand corner of your screen. Select to switch to Yahoo Mail Classic

Step 3: In the top left hand corner is your name. Highlight it and select "Account Info". It will ask you to put your password in again.

Step 4: Under Account Setting click "Set language, site, time-zone."

Step:5 Click New Setting and change it to Yahoo! Asia. Also accept the new Terms of Agreement.

You should now see a Yahoo! Asia logo on your homescreen.

We can now enable POP access and Email Forwarding without the $20 a normal member would pay.

Step 6: Click options again in the top right hand corner. Then Mail Options.

Step 7: On the left of the screen select POP and Forwarding. Then Set up or edit Pop and Forwarding.

A new Window/Tab should appear

Step 8: Click the bubble next to forwarding and enter in your new gmail account. Click Save.

Step 9: Send Verification

Step 10: Go to your gmail and grab the confirmation code and go back to the Yahoo! and enter. Enter password again.

You have now set-up Yahoo! to forward all incoming emails to your Gmail Account :)

*Bonus*
Transferring your Contacts from Yahoo to Gmail

Step 1: Open your Gmail account. Go to Settings.

Step 2: Click on the "Accounts and Import" Tab. Enter the passwords for your Yahoo! mail account.

Step 3: Select the import options you want to use. You can decide to import all your contacts as well as old mail.

Yeah... English/UK also works...
ALSO... this will allow you to push smtp direct to your phone again... which I"m using instead of POP forward to Gmail...

Thanks, I have had yahoo for years and everyone knows me on that email, and all my accounts are linked to it. Love gmail compared to Yahoo so this saved me. Thanks again!

With Yahoo being a POP account, couldn't you just open your GMail Settings and include your Yahoo email info in "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab. This way you will get the Push convenience of GMail and it will be labeled so you will know what account it's from.

I don't quite follow your question, but yes you can label the Yahoo account and it shows you on your phone.

Actually it was more a rhetorical statement aimed at the original post seemingly laborious way to do something that is so simple via your Gmail settings; but thanks for he response.

With yahoo, you have to pay $20/yr for POP. The "laborious" method described above allows u to get POP for free.

Ok, I haven't used Yahoo in awhile, but I just dug up my Yahoo info, verified it, than I went over to my GMail account and went to Settings > Accounts Imports > entered my Yahoo Info and within a min all of my Yahoo Mail was in my Gmail account Labeled Yahoo Account; so I said all that because I don't understand the $20 thing at all.

All you're doing is importing the mail already there. It won't forward any new messages that you get, which is the what the info in the OP does.

Thanks for the tip, seems to be working nicely.

One question though: when my yahoo email is forwarded to my gmail account and I respond, it shows my email as my gmail account. is there a way to show it coming from my yahoo account when replying to emails that are oringally sent to my yahoo address?

I didnt do the forwarding and after doing this K-9 recieves my yahoo mail using the yahoo servers.. just hit continue when K-9 tells you that it wont work without the plus account

gmail home page--->settings in upper right next to name--->accounts and import--->send mail as--->check box next to "Reply from the same address the message was sent to"

You can also add any other email address you have and use it to send if you want.

You don't have to forward your mail to gmail once you set it to an Asia account. It will be able to come directly on your phone through the mail app.

Awesome! This worked and I was able to open my PDF attachment! Thank you! One question though . . . . must I leave it as Yahoo Asia, or can I change it back? I only ask because the Aahoo home page now has news that is pertinent to Asia and not the U.S., unless I am missing something . . . . thanks!

Step 7: On the left of the screen select POP and Forwarding. Then Set up or edit Pop and Forwarding.

ok, i set up the account for Yahoo Asia but do not see any options for "PoP" or Forwarding in the menu. has it changed that quickly already, or am i doing something wrong?

I am having the same issue...

Still there...click mail options...then on the left side of page 6th one down...POP & Forwarding....click that you should then see

POP & Forwarding
Pardon our appearance during construction
We're still tweaking the Yahoo! Mail POP & Forwarding option. Temporarily you'll need to access it through the Yahoo! Mail Classic interface. But, rest assured, any changes made will take effect once you've reloaded the Yahoo! Mail.
Set up or edit POP & Forwarding

Click on the setup or edit part

( If you are getting a pop up window that says sorry this service is no longer for sale then you aren't in ''yahoo asia''. )

You should see
