Found an iPod Touch on the bus today

If there is not personal info in the contacts then I would post it on CL lost and found... Make anyone that claims it is theres send you an email from the email address thats attached to the itunes account on the ipod.. If they cant then I would just keep it.

That plus I'd tell the bus driver the same so if anyone asks him/her if one was left.

If your concience bothers you it shouldn't be to hard to find the owner if they ever purchased from apple store or registered the device. A call or email to apple customer service should set you on the right track.

Lucky for you! Though if I found one, or lost one for that matter, I'd do all I could to return it because I know losing one would be terrible!

I think I will just keep it.

Many people would do the same, but how would you feel if it was something you lost? Would you not rather the finder at least made some attempt to return it?

Is there not a 'registered' name under the 'about' settings?

If it was me...I'd contact the bus company, the Police and make attempts to track the owner given what clues there are on the touch. If I failed then fair enough, I'd keep it knowing I did my best.

Please do not call the police for a lost mp3 player...they have better things to do, believe me. The bus company really does not care nor do they want to bother...if you don't take the initiative to contact the person, just keep it and forget about it.

I have actually called apple about a lost ipod once.. they told me to just give it to the store.. And I did go into the store to see what they would do and they were not too keen on helping me find the owner at all..

It would be nice to get it back to the owner, but at some point you need to just chalk it up as good luck/karma for yourself.

Every station has lost/found property books, all it takes is a phone call and the person on the desk to look through the lost book and add a quick entry to the found book. They're always happy to help and I'm talking from experience here ;)

Okay I changed my mind I will at least make an attempt to find the owner...I'm NOT handing it in to lost and found cause I just don't trust it.

What I will do is hang fliers on the poles along the bus route from where I got on to where I got off since it's only a 3 mile walk..If someone can email me with the matching email on the App Store then I'll gladly return it.

I would make a honest attempt to find the owner. If that didn't pan out then I'd keep it. Have lost a iPod before, feels bad man.

I would just post the fliers and take them down in a month, if no response, keep it for myself :D

Please don't call the police or bring it back to the bus lost and found. They won't be more honest than you are and probably keep it for themselves.

I found a phone at the public restroom at my school a year and a half ago.

I posted in the school's bulletin board and the cafeteria board, to find the owner.

This is what I wrote :

Found Cell Phone

I found your lost cell phone.

But to know if you really are the owner, send any information to the following to my contact number *contact number*:

a) Type of phone
b) Where you lost it
c) Identifying marks (scratches, accessories, stickers)
d) Type of SIM

Any additional info will be better.

----
Some people started texting me, I didn't know whether they are genuine or just "Guess the correct answer and win a phone" type of game.

Couple days later, some guy texted me, not only did he give the correct info, he gave additional details like the last text, his SIM number and even his IMEI.

I know its not a phone, but maybe you can do something like that.

Can't you reply to one of the emails and tell them you've found the iPod? See if one of those people can contact the owner.

I agree with A.Nonymous, try emailing the people on the phone (or get the owner's email by looking in the settings)....

The person should have set up the free "Find my Phone" by mobile me....

I found an Ipod nano in a hotel room attached to the radio. Turned it into the front desk after trying to investigate for an owner, I figured the hotel could go into their records of the last person who had the room. The lady at the desk gave me a sorta 'are you crazy' look, and said she would give it to security since they deal with stuff like that. But I felt like I did my good deed for the day haha :D

Security was probably like "Score... new ipod!" Sadly that is how a lot of people are =(

A few years back I would just keep all music on my ipod and not back it up anywhere cause I didnt have the disc space... I would be so crushed if I lost it.

Okay well I put up fliers along the bus route and already have 23 new emails within a few hours pouring in trying to tell me they lost the iPod. None of them had the right e-mail address attached to the App Store.

well the Itunes account on the ipod is an email address. so get that and email the person. there so simple and you know you will be talking to the owner. its under the settings. or try and download a free app and it will pop it up to log in.

Sheesh I hate people that pretend that they're the owners of lost things.
