Root Found Stock recovery 3E

Finally I found there is a stock recovery in HTC One S.

I Followed this step:

1) Shotdown the phone.
2) Press power button and wolume down. I go in Hboot mode.
3) with vol key I select Recovery and press power button.
4) You’ll see the HTC logo, then the screen will go blank, followed by an image of a phone lying flat with an exclamation point and a triangle
5) Now, press and hold down volume up, and then while holding them, press and release the power button. Release the volume rocker. You should get a blue menu with a set of options – you are now in recovery mode.

[HIGH]Android system recovery <3e>

Volume up/down to move highlight:
volume button to select.

Reboot system now
apply from sd card
apply from phone storage
apply from cache
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition[/HIGH]

Now The question is: Can I root my stock phone (with bootloader locked and without modified recovery) with this (metohd 1):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746794

unfortunately, you cannot. the stock recovery will only flash htcs signed files. :(

But, in samsung galaxy, this particular zip is flashable also in stock recovery 3E, so i Think is it possible also in HTC one s.

you can flash the attached signed zip files in stock recovery, no more need to CWM.

The problem is that the stock recovery seems doesn't work in htc one s.

I Put the file on the root of internal storage, went to recovery and selected "apply update from internal storage" AND "apply update from external storage" on different attempts, and got "Invalid Operation" and it just reboots.

"unable to mount sd card"

Anyone Have tried?

As I explained, the stock recovery will only flash files with an HTC signature. Samsung and HTC are apples and oranges ;)

To root the HTC,you'll need to unlock the boot loader, and use a custom recovery. :)

Ok thank you. But te stock recovery seems doesn't work anyway.
I tried to flash via stock recovery the ota update that may be signed from htc.

1) download OTA update
2) rename it to update.zip
3) copia to root memory device (internal SD).
4) reboot in HBOOT.
5) went to recovery and selected "apply update from internal storage" AND "apply update from external storage" on different attempts, and got "Invalid Operation" and it just reboots.

Have anyone tried?
There is a way to manually flash OTAPkg with stock ROM (NO recovery modified, NO root, NO unlock botloader)?

Yes. Sure.

im a little confused if you are all stock, why your phone did not natuarally install the recovery after it downloaded it?

at any rate, its just like everything else htc does: there is a little more to it than just having the stock recovery present. alot of factors need to be correct for the OTA to be applied naturally or manually, not the least of wich include:
-stock recovery
-stock rom,no bloat or system files removed
-you must be on the correct release firmware, not a leak
-OTAPkg if sourced elsewhere, needs to be unmodified(have htc signiture) and be correct for your reginonal/carrier build(i.e. if youre on 1.70.631.1 you cant apply OTA for 2.35.531.7)
-OTA must match also cid, model id,etc. of the phone
-others i cant think of at the moment

if youre phone isnt installing the stock OTA,there is some aspect of it,thats not correct.

Now HTC don't release the new OTA in Italy, although the CID is correct.

Code:
C:\adb>fastboot getvar all
(bootloader) version: 0.5
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 2.15.0000
(bootloader) version-baseband: 1.11.50.05.28
(bootloader) version-cpld: None
(bootloader) version-microp: None
(bootloader) version-main: 3.16.161.9
(bootloader) version-misc: PVT SHIP S-ON
(bootloader) serialno: SH23SW403608
(bootloader) imei: 359901045304694
(bootloader) product: vle
(bootloader) platform: HBOOT-8960
(bootloader) modelid: PJ4010000
(bootloader) cidnum: VODAP102
(bootloader) battery-status: good
(bootloader) battery-voltage: 3994mV
(bootloader) partition-layout: Generic
(bootloader) security: on
(bootloader) build-mode: SHIP
(bootloader) boot-mode: FASTBOOT
(bootloader) commitno-bootloader: dirty-64bedd38
(bootloader) hbootpreupdate: 11
(bootloader) gencheckpt: 0
all: Done!

The OTA is this:
Code:
OTA_Ville_U_JB_45_S_Vodafone_UK_3.16.161.10-3.16.161.9_release_314595ks2c3r4s9728x22k.zip

I think there is some problem with stock recovery.

Any idea to solve?

i doubt there is issue with the stock recovery.

the more likely prollem is that simply the 3.16.161.9 will not naturally OTA to 3.16.161.10. when the stock recovery checks OTAPkg,it then looks for an older release build of x.xx.161.x(tho im not sure what version it would look for. whatever version of ICS was most recently OTAed to phones.

I don't think.
I Think there is a problem with stock recovey to mount internal sd card, as You can read in the link below.

Hard reset is equal to pulling the battery. Hold the power button for 10 to 20 second, until the soft keys start flashing, and the phone reboot.
