Free G-Shock Watch

I think I'm keeping mine as well. I've worn it for a few days and I caught a few calls I otherwise would have missed, so it does have some value.

The only thing I don't like about it is the size. It looks like I'm carrying a spare tire on my wrist!

I got an email from Casio asking for my shipping address on Monday (11-4). Saying it may be up to 6 weeks. I plan on keeping mine. If it will fit my small wrist.

Just got mine and set it up. As soon as a paired, the time changed and synced with the phone. Neat so far, but we will see. GREAT for free! Thanks Casio!

Now THATs confidence:D

I got mine today. It's nifty but I don't have a lot of use for it. I haven't worn a watch since the 90s. Guess I'll try it out for awhile.

If we're all selling on fleabay, we gotta spread it out so we don't compete with each other...

Thanks to the OP for getting us in on the deal.

fleabay! lol

My main disappointments are, it's failure to reconnect after "link loss" and "power save" without accessing the phones menu and that the other phones it's used with have more watch functions than the Commando. Kinda ironic that Casio chose to put less usability into the Casio phone than the iPhone and Galaxy.

Yea, I noticed that it does not automatically connect either. I had it disconnect with the phone right next to me once already too. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to enable to Tap feature... the owners manual talks about it, but I'm not finding a way to enable it. Being able to just tap the watch to make an alert go away would be nice.

I am trying to find someone with a Galaxy who can download the G-Shock app and extract it into an .apk. Once I do this I'll side-load it onto my Commando and see if it works. If it does, I'll share the .apk.

You have to tap it in just the right way... basically two taps in rapid succession.

Waiting for mine, I haven't heard from Casio about it in a while. I got the confirmation a good while back, hopefully Space Wrangler didn't get mine lol!

So I had to replace my phone under warranty and I was worried about how I'd wake up in the morning while waiting for the new phone, because I used the phone as my alarm clock. I dug out an old flip phone to use as an alarm and then it hit me...I HAVE A WATCH! With an alarm!

So the g-shock watch has already come in handy. Maybe I'll read the instructions this week and figure out what all these little buttons do :D

I think your wrist will be fine. My wrists are pretty narrow also, and I have 4 more holes beyond where it's comfortably tight.

got my g-shock yesterday. i'm pleased with the watch since the price was free. also would not have been happy had i paid $180 for the watch. i agree in finding it strange that casio would make both the phone and the watch and it has the fewest capabilities on the list.

but, it's a nice watch. probably going to get a new band for it, my skin doesn't tolerate the rubber band very well, drives me crazy. the notifications are pretty cool, especially since i don't feel the phone vibrate half the time in my pocket and it's always on silent mode.
i've had the same experience as space wrangler mentioned with auto reconnect. doesn't seem to reconnect automatically unless a few stars are lined up just right. haven't found any glitches yet other than that though.

definitely keeping it. as far as the watch part goes it's a casio, so pretty tough watch with plenty of nice functions

In case anyone cares, the watch still keeps a connections when my phone pares with SYNC too. My phone has been losing connection with it like 4 times a day and overnight.... kind of sucks.

The Tap feature only work for alarms, and not for phone notifications. That is why I was not able to get it to work. :)

I find the countdown feature on the watch useful for work. Daily, I need pumps to run for different times depending how much needs to be filled. A reminder is nice!

I had the phone playing music through a bluetooth speaker. It would not stay connected to the watch when I was doing this.

A few notes on time synchronization:

1. The first time I paired the watch and phone, it did not synchronize the time on the watch.

2. I un-paired and re-paired the watch, and the time was set, accurate to the second.

3. I found that you can manually force the watch to sync with the phone's clock. In timekeeping mode (the default), press and hold the A button (upper left corner). SET HOLD appears, then in a few seconds, a clock with the letters AT appears. Keep holding down the A button until all this disappears, probably 5-10 seconds. When you set the watch with this method, it will be 1-3 seconds behind the phone.

Does anyone have experience with the second generation of this watch? I sold one of my watches on eBay, and am considering using that cash toward one of the second generation watches. I'm wondering if there are any real improvements (not counting the upgraded features which don't work with the Commando), or if the upgrade is cosmetic only. I may get one off Amazon (free return) and try it. If I like it I'll sell my other freebie on eBay. I'm hoping that Casio will put out an update (and/or app) to address connectivity issues and give us the same features that the iPhone and Galaxy have with this watch.

I'm still waiting for mine. But I agree I'm hoping Casio will release a app update to allow the older version to control music playback.

I doubt that will happen. The old watch doesn't have the capability for music control. The new one does, but there is no software on, or available for, a Commando to allow this. Thanks Casio!!
