No, there is no way. It's illegal otherwise. Support the developers, support Android.
Legal ways of getting apps for free is either by going to the Amazon App Store or Samsung Apps. The former gives out an app for free each day. The latter has promotions on popular apps now and then.

Is the Amazon app store available in the UK? I looked in the Play store and downloaded the Amazon app, but there is nowhere on there to actually buy apps, it's just the same as the site I access on the PC

You need to download the .apk from amazon.co.uk. No direct d/l from play store.
