Just in case anyone wants to try this / if it has happened to anyone else.
I didn't have a pre order for the Incredible but when I went in to exchange my current 10 day old phone for one the manager went to transfer the contacts over and apparently their machine cannot transfer anything to the internal Incredible memory. I received a free 2gb memory card to make up for it ($24.99 savings woot).
Just an FYI to everyone out there it is worth a try.
