Root Free space... Aargh!

Lurker
Hello,
First of all excuse the "newbines" factor. I just got a HTC Desire, not new i don't know if it was branded or not. it wasn't rooted.
But that is fixed now :)
I ezitated at first but lack of free space made me do it. I read about a2SD+ so i thought this was my answer.
So, i rooted. Everithing was ok. I created a nandroid backup using cwm, and a full app and data backup using Titanium backup.
I looked for a suitable ROM replacement, and i settled for this one:
[ROM] [20/08] Pre-rooted Stock Gingerbread (3.14.405.1) [Optional Mods]

All went well. I erased everything and then flashed the new ROM. was simpler than expected.
After booting in the new ROM i installed Titanium Backup and restored my settings... However ... i don't really know if i did it right...
All my apps are back. but all the customisations that i did in my intreface are gone.
And i don't really have free space...
I am on low again after the restore.
I read SUroot's guide on a2sd+
and installed the little info app.
now this is weird because: I created my 2 partition on the sd card(8GB)
1 FAT 32 6.42GB
2 EXT3 1GB
However the info app shows me
SD Card Total: 6.42 Free 2.32 -> This is ok
A2SD storage 30.45MB, Free 6.97MB. Where did i go wrong with this ?

Any other tips to free some Internal storage, i`m down to 12MB.

Ty and excuse if this is silly.

I did not installed anything else.
I was under the impression that they were already installed.
What exactly are the optimal mods?

LE
I see now that the ROM i installed did not have a2SD+ installed, only the support for it.
I downloaded the mod, i just have to figure out how to install it now.
I will come back with updates.

I flashed the dark tremor zip, but now the phone is not starting anymore
it just gets to the quitly brilliant sound and just loops that part at a regulate interval. Now i know i did something wrong, but what?

Ok, the sound was making me very .. angry, so i took the battery out, putt it back in, and flashed LeeDroid 3.3.3
Let's see how this goes ...
This ROM has ap2SD already installed.

LE:
The ROM seems to be working fine, will be back with info after i install more apps.

All is well and working now, caouldn't be more happy with the phone. I was a little dissapointed by the free space issue, but now i see all is good.
Can't wait to test all those ROMS.
One question tho:
If i backup using titanium, does it backup all my contacts too? because it seems it didn't on the last backup, but then i`m new with this i may have screwed up when i backed up.

TB does not do your comtacts or sms or email.
Contacts and email are best done using your standard google account jusy makr sure it is all working and you can see your contacts on google on a pc.

Hope this helps

For sms i use sms backup+ it was free from the market and backs everything up to your email.

Enjoy

SMS backup+ is good for messages, call logs.

Technically contacts/SMS are backed-up by Ti, but they are part of the system data so you can't use that to transfer from one ROM to another (likely to cause problems). Most people let Google back up their contacts (as this is the default). If not, MyBackup can back these up, or you can just export you address book to SD from the contacts app then load it back after flashing a ROM.

The ROM you installed is commonly called Teppic's Gingerbread and is a great stable ROM with Sense.. my wife has it on her phone. It's a "stock" ROm which means it keeps close to the original software.. but you can modify it.

There is an optional mod to add apps2sd.. it works fine. Just flash the ROM and let the phone boot up. When you get to the google log-in screen shut the phone down to recovery. Flash the A2SD zip and any other mods you want to use.

I think you may have caused problems for yourself by trying to install DarkTremors script.. I've not tried it on this ROM but I would suspect it isn't compatible.

Hope this helps.
