Help Free Tethering?

I heard from my friend that you can get free mobile hotspot even without rooting your tbolt by downloading some app. Can anyone validate these claims and if so, what's the app i need to downlaod? thx

They are false. Broadcasting a signal from the wifi chipset requires you change its state, which requires root permissions.

You can get WIRED/Bluetooth tether from apps such as EasyTether or PDANet.

actually, on older phones (read: Evo,--so, not that old) you can enter a dialer code & change something in the phone menu to allow tethering

for the life of me i can't think of what it's called--but it has to do with changing some type of email type address or entering in "0000" into some network setting.

as far as this TB goes--i've not heard of anyone successfully entering that dialer code (yet, mind you, yet) and enabling wireless tethering. since it's free til may 15th, don't see the need.

but i'm definitely not paying $20/2gb (rumored). i'd go through that in a matter of an hour with any sort of quality streaming media app

I did this on my DInc and it worked perfectly but it is locked down on the TBolt :(

I tried to use the built in hot spot and it would not work for more than 2 minutes at a time without dropping out and restarting.
Root, then updated to the leaked radio, and it worked flawless.
I could not do the tier data I used over 8 GIGs last month for some reason, I think some must have been left over from my DINC and hot spot when I was traveling.

My hotspot works fine . I do get drop off but think its more of poor signal. I am still waiting for the OTA to try the new radio and see if it fixes the 4G lock up if its not charging. Like I said I dont use it unless I am tethered. So nothing I need out and about as 3g is just fine.
