Help Freeing Space?

Hai.

HTC Wildfire S. I like it, except the obvious problem that everyone seems to have - The internal memory.

My phone wont let me open pictures now and i had 5 of them!

All my downloaded apps are on the SD card. I've cleared caches, messages and photos.

Am i missing something?

Basically, Is there a way to delete all those apps that came on the phone that i will never use?

And I'm a slight n00b, as Rooting looks like a total fustercluck to me.

Please help? x

Hello and welcome aboard. Other than rooting the device to get rid of those preinstalled apps, you can go ahead and purchase a larger size SD card for more space. Trust me.. I'm aware of how the process of rooting a device can be complicated if you aren't tech savvy. Maybe that is why I've never rooted any of my device.

Thanks for joining us here. All the best in whatever decision you make. :)

Thanks. But The SD card isn't the problem. I've moved all the apps I can (which isn't alot) And I still keep getting messages about low internal memory. The phone came with a low memory anyway, and i've noticed other people had the same issue, and I'm guessing the OS uses alot of that too. I've connected the phone as a separate hard drive to try to delete them from there but no luck. I'm guessing you cant upgrade the internal memory like a PC, but there's gotta be a way to delete the original factory set apps?

Without rooting, you can't delete apps from the stock ROM. And you can't upgrade internal memory like a PC. I can think of two non-root options for you:

1. Sticky: Forcing Apps to install to the SD Card without root

2. Upgrade to 2.3.5 because it gives back about 20-30MB of space. After I did so (before upgrading to a non-HTC ROM) I had about 50 MB free.

Tell me your phone model (ie, A510x where x = a, b, c or e), your carrier and your current ROM and I can help you.

It's an A510e. 9.93MB free space.

I'm running 2.3.3 at the moment also.
As I said above, upgrading to 2.3.5 will give back 20-30MB of space. Check to see if you can update through FOTA first (Settings > About Phone > Software Updates > Check Now). If not, you should be able to upgrade to the stock HTC European ROM (for GSM A510e like yours). This will also de-brand your phone and thus not include the bloatware from your carrier since it's generic HTC. Check out this tutorial for more: [TUTORIAL][S-ON][GSM][HOWTO] Upgrade to 2.3.5. I have an Asia A510e and this ROM worked fine for my phone.

If you think you can handle rooting, check out this guide: [Guide] How to root the Wildfire S A510e GSM with S-ON (finally!). After rooting you can install custom ROMs with no bloatware. Whether you use a custom ROM or not, rooting also allows you to move more apps to the SD card via Link2SD or Apps2SD.

And have you tried this tutorial yet?
