Help Freezes in photo gallery since JI6 update

There is a gallery.apk somewhere on xda that fixes this. I'll post it if I can find it, but it's a known issue. I running a custom rom now though and everything is flying.
 
I know this is an old thread but I thought i might share some info on this subject. Anyways my Vibrant had been giving me the same problem with the Photo Gallery freezing up when loading. I had a 8 gb micro sd card on it and most my photos were on it. So i decided to move all of my images from the memory card to the internal memory of the phone. After doing this, my gallery loads in a second no matter how many images i had. I usually had around 80 photos on the phone after doing this and the photo gallery has never froze since. Apparently my Vibrant has trouble generating the thumbnails and freezes when doing this from the memory card and the internal storage at the same time, or maybe just from the memory card. So I think is the solution in this case.
 
Alas that was one of the many things mine was doing before I got the replacement! You would go nuts waiting for it to figure out what it was doing then finally..some 2 or 3 mins later pop up! so darn annoying!


Call tm csr and see if you can get a replacement...
note they will want you to do a soft restore [from settings menu under privacy] keeps the folder data etc but kills all of ur apps....


ive got close to 800 pictures and now it dont freeze or lagg!

So where exactly on the internal memory did you move your photos to? When you take a new photo with the phone camera, doesn't it get stored on the SD card? Do you have to move each new photo you take ? How does the gallery locate the photos in their new location if it stores them by default on the SD card?

after doing some research, your post brings up some questions. The Vibrant stores photos to the internal memory BY DEFAULT. One can go into the camera settings and change that so that the photos are stored on the external SD card. Is that how your phone was configured? If so, you then moved the photos onto the internal memory?

My Vibrant has the Gallery Freeze bug too but my photos are (by default) all stored on the internal memory. So, I don't see how this fix would work.
