Frequest Restarts

My phone has been pretty stable since I got it, then all of a sudden today it's reastarted it's self like 6 times in the last hour and a half. Is there anything I can check to see what is restarting it?

did you install anything new or take an update close to when it started happening mate?

No, but something I already had may well have been updated from the Play Store.

I've noticed that what is happening is that the restart menu pops up (like when you hold the power button down). I'll hit the "back" button to close it, and a few seconds later my phone shuts down. It's happened several more times and is getting quite annoying. I really hate to do a factory restore, but that's about all I can think to do if I can't track down a culprit.

Ok, thanks. I was hoping there might be a log somewhere that tracks shutdowns or something. Maybe I'll take it out of the case for a while and if that's maybe jacking with the button. But if that were the case I'd think the back button wouldn't make it shut down.

Is it a coincidence that I was eligible for an upgrade like 2 weeks ago? Sometimes I think they're designed to crap out when your eligible to replace them. :)

Lol yeah they have a self destruct chip :)
If you hold in power long enough it forces a reboot so maybe it is the case causing it

Just a quick update....I'm pretty sure it's a power button issue. Does anyone have a suggestion on what might be done to fix something like that?

Im guessing warranty has ended?
Unless youre confident at buying the parts and DIYing it you should put it in a samsung certified repair center

Yes, well out of warranty.

Not sure I want to deal with sending it somewhere. May just have to upgrade or live with it.

I tried cleaning around it a bit last night and that didn't seem to help. I did find a local repair place that said this is not uncommon. They say they can fix it in about an hour for $55. That sounds like money well spent to me, so I'm going to try to drop it off after work and hopefully have a working phone again sometime after dinner.
