FRG83G update error

Restored the original ROM on my Droid and the FRG83G keeps being pushed to it but the update errors out. It restarts and I get the android guy with an ! in a triangle.

ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.1
Finding Update package....
Opening update package....
Verifying update package....
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted

I can reboot and it is fine but in few days the update wants to download and install again with the same results.

Does this error occur because I am still rooted? If I unroot my phone will the update apply okay? Just getting the phone ready to sell.

Any ideas?

How did you restore the original ROM? And are you sure it is FRG83G and not the new FRK update released lat week?

I restored the backup of the original ROM from ROM Manager.

When the update came up on the screen I opened the More Info and it stated at the top FRG83.

Ahhhhh. When it downloads the update it is probably in a cache folder. Did you manually move it to another folder, or are you using CM Recovery to navigate to the file in the cache folder?

If you're going to sell it you could use RSD Lite instead and put a purr stock FRG83 on there and be done with it. See the sticky in the all things root for more info

I am not touching the file it downloads. I just tap the Install Now button, it restarts, and a second or two later it errors out. I might try that RSD Lite.

Thanks

You can force it using Clockword by copying the file to another location, or else what you can do is boot into CM Recover,y use the install update from ZIP and then navigate to the location in the cache folders where the file is found, and instal lit yourself.
