Fring pulls Skype support Iphone to blame.

That's horse shit. I was just about to get my grandparents a webcam so I could chat with them Evo-to-Skype.

And Skype made an app yet?

Just kidding - like the last time I pulled this out, I was wrong, this prolly deserves its own thread. Still, can't help lmao. ;)

Seriously - Verizon does NOT have any exclusivity beyond the marketing hype. The iPhone's had a Skype client for years, you could buy one for Symbian - then they made that free.

Skype on your mobile phone

They were entirely non-exclusive to Verizon the day that Verizon announced that they were.

Complete, total and absolute BS on Verizon's part.

The only deal Skype had with Verizon was to bang out suitable clients. I know one guy walking around with Skype on a Moment, and I'd read earlier this year that Skype was targeting a wide-open client sometime this year.

Skype use on any non-Verizon anything violates no terms of service - precisely why Fring could pull this in the first place.

Fring as a Skype client does have feature limitations from the desktop version - like the Verizon client, like the iPhone client.

Speaking of that - I also note on the Skype web that after this year, iPhones making 3G Skype-to-Skype calls will incur a monthly fee.

That's AT&T for ya.

None of the other clients are listing that "feature."

iPhone Apps ? download Skype for iPhone and iPod touch

I did a search and did not come up with your thread sorry. I will pray to the man upstairs to resurrect the poor little kitty cat. LOL :D

I just found it rather compelling that they are blaming the Iphone for consuming to many resources thus them pulling Skype support for fring.

Just uninstalled fring, guess if they ever get that back up and running again I will consider installing it. No point in having it on my phone now, skype video calls were the only thing I gave a crap about.

Fring plans on making money Showing ads to mobile users..

Having the ads on the IPhone increases the views, more views mean better stats to show potential clients.

My theory only

Skype via Fring sucked on the EVO anyway. The few times I tried using it, the delay was like 5 seconds. Not to mention the jitter and artifacting. Virtually worthless for video chatting.

On 3G I experienced this issue. But on Wifi it worked rather well.

What Fring needs to do is build their own name up completely. Make and release a PC client. That way you won't need skype at all.

Come on man, that would just make too much sense! Instead we are stuck with no Skype, and a piece of crap Qik program.
