From RIM to Android

Newbie
Use to love my BB until I saw an Android phone. But since my work paid for my phone, I had no reason to buy a new one till they replaced my BB with a cheap Samsung dumb phone. Luckily, I had bought into Ando about two months ago when I piked up a ACER A500 Iconia tablet which is killer! I taught myself Ando in a few hours well enough to get goods use from the tablet and now I have a Fro 222 phone, I am loving the fact I learned on another Ando device first!

I do have a few questions that I'll post up later though since I am on my laptop now and am out of a sefvice area at home...

Love the new Optimus V so far, very good phone for the money and no contract is the way I like to be.

About a year ago I got a BB...I had it for 2 days before I was ready to throw it out the window. It looks like an operating system from 10 years ago. After going with Android, I don't ever want to look back. ;)

BB refugee here too. Actually, more like a "what happened to my bill? See ya later t mobile" guy. Anyway the Optimus sure makes my BB look like a joke. Can't figure why I didn't do this a lot sooner. I also like saving $50-60/month.

Yeah, my bill went from a T-Mobile whopper of around 100 a month minimum, to 35 bucks a month for more actual work on the phone since it is soo much faster. I love it. I am having some little lock-up problems which have made me have to remove the battery a few times. Other than that, it has been nice. I have a few questions though.

Can I increase the size of fonts? If so how?

Can I install an app from an SD card?

If I go to the app store, can I just create an account where I put say $25.00 in it and keep buying apps till that runs out?

Sniper, yeah, you can increase the size of the fonts by going into the settings for gmail. If you use gosms for texting, you can change the font and the font size within the settings as well.

You can store most apps on the SD card. I'm not sure what you mean by install from the SD card though.

The app store has plenty of free, good quality apps. No need to put any money there (and I don't think you can anyway). There's a few apps that cost money, check them and see if you want them. I personally like the Transit Tracker pro for Chicago's public trans. There's a few others, all up to what you need and want.

Hope this helps!

Download the .apk to the sd card via dropbox or USB (there are other options as well) then use a file explorer such as ES explorer or Root Explorer to navigate to the .apk. Once you select it, it should ask if you want to install or open or a couple other options, it may instead ask you what application you want to use, one should be a package installer.

From there it should install.
