Root From stock 2.0.1 to Bugless Beast ROM (For beginners)

im just about to give up i went to that link and the flash image link to download and it just came up with a bunch of letter and no file to download...

Okay

Step 10.. download that file on your computer.

11 transfer it to the root directory of the SDcard VIA USB

12 repeat 10 and 11 for the SPRecovery (99.3)

make sure you have the Terminal emulator downloaded and installed (9)

13-22 are done in the terminal App on the Droid
(be watchful of spaces int he commands)

23. is downloaded and extracted on the PC then transfered to the Sdcard

ok i got it to come up and i went through the next steps and the 99.2 didnt come up i had to use the volume and camera button to bring up the screen and nothing is in red it all blue..and in yellow it says E:Cant open/cache/recovery/command....

Did you unzip or extract the tools folder to the root of the sdcard?

Ok, this is where I'm at...
Tried to replace recovery-0.99.1b.img with a renamed 99.3 - Same Problem
Tried to install Droid Root Pro, updaing the tools and using 99.2b - Same Problem

For clarification, I'm installing BB 2.1, not BB 2.0.1.

Yeah that Droidhelper needs updating or something..

Like I said using Matth3w's directions I was able to get my BB 1.1 (2.0.1) installed, BUT for 2.1 you have to start Fresh, I updated over my current

quick question on BB 1.1 running adamZ kernel. how can u run apps from your SD this was a major reason for me rooting. thanks

how do i unzip or extract the tools folder..

If you haven't already, download and install AndroZip from the Marketplace.
Open up AndroZip and go to the /sdcard then /download and find the file droidroothelper.zip.
Select the file and choose Extract to...
Then hit the left arrow at the top to go back and hit Extract Here.

Now go back in to DroirRootHelper and pick it up from the start. You may want to restart before you do this.

thank you so much now im ready to download the bugless beast but the link isnt working for me to download it..does anyone know the right link..

Thanks which one has the best stuff.

Note.

The 201 roms are much more stable than the 2.1 roms.... so if your new to it all my recommendation would be to get wet with the 201 stuff first.... then when you've played enough and cut your teeth... try a 2.1. You'll be more prepared to deal with the bugs as 2.1 is newer. Plus it'll also give the dev's more time to stabilize it.

I am getting the "E:Cant open/cache/recovery/command" problem. I have the tools folder unziped. I followed the original instructions to the t, but when i restored it showed up just like when I originally got my phone.

EDIT::
If this makes any difference. When i am in the Android System Recovery there is a <2e> behind it then the menu is
Reboot system now
Apply sdcard:update.zip
Wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

Then in the bottom it says E: Can't open /cache/recovery/command

I did eventually get everything going and I have to say, I love having this rom on my phone. In case you were wondering, I ended up going with BB 0.7.6 and it has been absolutely rock solid thus far. I had a couple issues initially (like the first or second times I rebooted after successfully flashing). In particular, my camera didn't work at first and the rom didn't come with Google Maps so the navigation option of the Car Home app would FC. But, after restarting a few times and downloading Maps from the market, everything is running perfectly. Thanks again for the abundantly clear guide!

ok so i did all the steps it just wiped my phone out back to stock and no bugless beast what did i do wrong please help me......
