Help Front Facing Camera?

.Emma.

Lurker
I know, I feel stupid for asking, but how do i get to the front facing camera? It seems like it should have such an obvious answer, but apparently I don't seem to know where it is.

Go to your camera app... hit menu.... tap "Switch Camera" it will switch from "main" (rear camera) to "secondary" (front facing camera)....

there you go.

Curious what you will use your front camera for other than taking your picture? I assume Skype video conferencing is not available. thanks.

in addition to taking your own picture, it's a ton easier this way because of the lack of a trackball, but with qik video and fring. those support video chat.

skype currently does not support video calls, which is stupid.

Question:

Is Facetime an Apple exclusive or does anyone know if Android will soon see it? I'm on my phone and too lazy to Google it right now.

FaceTime is, to my knowledge, Apple only. I'd be VERY surprised if we ever say it on Android OS.

We have (theoretically) Skype video, and GTalk plus a bunch of other third party video chatting apps.

Tango and Yahoo Video (add-on to the Y! Messenger) work very well with a strong 3G connection... but there still are the pitfalls of needing adequate lighting.... im sure a front facing LED would be overkill, but maybe adding a bar or border of white around the chat window to illuminate the subject better could be added in future builds.

i know how to work the camera but for some reason when i go to take the pic its neon colors if anyone can help me with this?

unfortunately, the first two, skype and gtalk, do not support video chat yet. which is REALLY stupid. but fring and qik do

Is there anyway to switch easier other than opening the camera app before you use yahoo messenger and switching to secondary, then when finished, going back into camera app and selecting main?
A widget or a quick toggle anywhere?

the new update for 2.3.3 gave an addition to the camera, where when you open the camera app, there is now a button on the screen to switch from front to main cameras.
