Help Front facing camera

My front facing camera is not functioning. When I try to switch to it I get this message "Camera has stopped unexpectedly, need to restart" I have rebooted and still get this message. Any ideas what the issue may be? Thanks in advance.

You using the stock ROM, and Kernel? Also, did you root, and if so what all did you remove, freeze, etc. if anything?
Another thing is that it could very well be a hardware issue, or a software one. I'd say first and foremost, do a factory reset by holding power button, and volume down at the same time 'till the screen pops up stating you're in factory reset mode.

I am stock. Will the factory reset loses all of my apps and stuff on the phone?

It will remove all of your everything. Backup your apps with either your favorite root program that saves settings and login info, or just astro or something if you aren't rooted. Export your contacts to SD card and then go ahead and run the factory reset.

Note: DO NOT boot into recovery using hardware keys if you've installed CWM on your device. You'll bootloop your phone. Instead use the Quickboot app to boot into recovery, and do your factory reset from there.

Okay Go to setting>Applications>All>Scroll till you find camera. Select it and clear cache and force stop

the clear cache is gray

Finally took it to the Metro store. Phone is defective and has to be replaced.
