Hey did anyone get this OTA from verizon yet? I was wondering why i havent gotten mine, it came out on the 7th

VZ said it could take until March 17th.
Patience.
Besides, it's nothing but bug fixes.

I haven't seen it either, yet.

i hope rooted users on stock rom get this ota...if not, no biggie i guess ill just move to a rom

As long as your are running the original stock ROM you should get this. If you have deleted a number of systems apps (and the update modifies them) or if you have an alternate recovery it will not update properly. The alternative recovery will block the update and if your missing systems apps that are needed that may create a problem.

Either way updates have always removed root (not a big deal as you can re-root but a pain in the neck anyway.)

OTA updates will likely un-root you. if you search around, you can find ways to trick your phone into disregarding the OTA update to keep root safe and then just go get one of Pete's vanilla stick ROMS if having the latest and greatest is important

Ironically, my spare Droid (that is not signed up with Verizon but I use with wifi like a mini-laptop and MP3 player) received the OTA update this morning, while my active Droid has not (yet).

if i have spr recovery, and i want to get the update, should i uninstall spr or what should i do? just curious, havent made up my mind whether to do it or not

well im running clockword mod and spr recovery, i guess thats why i havent received the update

The alternate recovery you have should not stop the notification of the update. It only stops it from installing after you donwload it. Having a custom ROM installed will block the update.

If you want the update then you need to get back to a stock recovery to install it or wait until the ROM devs update their froyo ROMs with it and then install those.

Not to hijack the thread, but I am non-rooted and my phone has reminded me about this update twice. When I hit the install button, the phone just goes back to the main screen instead of the usual reboot and package unload. Any ideas?

If I update it should unroot my phone right? Will the original rooting procedure work to re-root the phone if it has the new OS, it's a Droid 1

The going speculation is that the rageagainstthecage method (super one click, soup for root, etc.) used by many will still work; however, that is not guaranteed that the exploit won't be patched. I have not heard anything definitive though. You can always root your phone using RSD Lite no matter what they do.

Users have said that it will be able to get re-rooted just fine on FRG83D but I have not tried. Will experiment later today and report back

I received the update this morning and swype stopped working. Anyone else have this problem? I'm unrooted if that matters.
