Help Froyo 2.2 update

Need help! I have downloaded, uninstalled, and redownloaded Kies mini several times, but whenever I try to update I get an error message stating MiniApplication launcher has stopped working. Any idea's or thoughts or info? Thanks ahead of time before I go crazy.

1- register your phone on samsung.com
2- pop out the battery and slide in and out 3 or 4 times the sim card and sd ram card

Doesn't sound like a phone issue. The application on the PC is corrupt perhaps? I usually use ODIN, but used Kies for this update. Pretty seamless.

SuperOneClick root and OCLF2.0 are required for this to be very sweet. Once those are completed the ROM seems to run smoothly.

I think you may be right, what OS are you running and have you uninstalled and used something to clean the registry then do a full reboot

I'm facing a dilemma: should I upgrade to Android 2.2 from 2.1?

I've read up on lots of reviews, on this site and others, on the benefits of 2.2 and how other users (on T-Mobile) fared with the upgrade.

I've read that many ppl had issues with slow boot time, GPS being screwed up, calls being dropped, poor battery life, camera not functioning properly, etc.

So...should I upgrade?

I personally haven't had any problems. I actually am getting better battery life with 2.2. I have no problems with the camera. The only problem I have is very small in that the boot screen when you turn on has the loud jingle noise, but I just cover up the sound hole with my finger to minimize the noise.

I read in quite a few posts about users having issues with email notifications after upgrading. Have you experienced any issues?

i havnt had any problems with fb or email notifications ,, just have to make sure your sync options are on .. you can find this in seetings - accounts and sync-manage accounts -

in this tab you can also add acounts such as hotmail gmail twitter etc etc

I was very cautious about upgrading to Froyo after all the warnings I had heard of. I worked very hard researching and trying to do what ever I could to make sure I had a safe upgrade. In the end I was not able to back up my phone because the backup links I was trying to follow ended up getting hijacked by an outfit trying to sell a commercial driver search and install program.

With much trepidation I used the stock upgrade from T-mobile and it worked out perfectly. Once the upgrade was completed I started checking out my phone and at first I didn't notice too much different. That night I forgot to put my phone in the charger and the next morning when I realized my error I found that my battery was still above 80% capacity. It had been running down in a single day so I was happily surprised. I had also left the WiFi on so it really did do a great job with the battery saving.

The next thing I noticed was that my emails from work started showing up again on my phone. Up until now I had to restart the phone to get the email to show up but now it has been working properly for the past 3 days. This too is a welcome surprise.

I have not really been able to determine if the phone is much faster but so far two important things are a lot better so I have to put this upgrade solidly in the WIN column.

Is the samsungs 2.2 pretty good? I havnt tried it because I came from using rims. Is it worth flashing it if I have a custom rom?

From what I've read and heard, just keep your custom roms. Many people tried out the stock 2.2 and went back to their custom rom after messing with it for a few days. 2.2 is an upgrade from 2.1, but still does not compare to custom rom capabilities.

Where can I download Kies Mini? I've looked on Samsung's website for it but I can't find it for the Vibrant for Windows.

I just updated my vibrant to froyo 2.2 today. It looks amazing and performs very well...with one exception...My messages won't load up and I can't recive or send anything. When I click messages it just freezes. And when it doesn't freeze completely, it just sits there and doesn't load anything up. Can someone help me get this figured out?
