Root Froyo advantages over Eclair (the under-the-radar stuff).

So I just updated my phone to use froyo (cognition 3.01) from JH7 Eclair. I'm curious about all the stuff that's unique in 2.2 vs. 2.1, (not just something that is specific to Cognition). That especially goes for nice little under the radar stuff, that people forget about.

Here are a few things I've noticed (I'm especially listing the under the radar changes).

Obvious stuff, Adobe Flash, Google Voice Actions, Apps on SD, Portable hot-spot, toggle GPS and auto-rotate in notification bar.

Not so obvious stuff
Custom ringtones are now available for Google Contacts. That's nice because I like to keep my contacts on my Google account, but previously I don't think you could use custom ringtones for them.

The Clock app now has automatic DST changes for various countries in the world clock section. Before it was very stupid because you somehow had to know when London changes their clocks, vs New Zealand etc etc.

The new 5.0 Google Maps, now is able to be rotated. Before, this wouldn't work under Eclair even with the new Google maps.

The froyo Gmail app allows you to select text and copy to the clipboard. Before this was impossible.

New Voice recognition settings allow for various accents of English.

There is a new "Sensor Aiding" option for GPS settings in the Location Settings area. Not sure what this does, I'm guessing it helps it. Haven't tested yet.

Skype now is able to be used. With Eclair it was simply unavailable for Galaxy S phones.

You are now able to change the ringtone to use for the Calendar alerts, as well as make a Calendar notification vibrate. Before it was the WORST most inaudible ringtone available, ironically called "On Time". But it seems like some of my custom tones are *not* available still. I'm guessing maybe there is a length limit, no idea.

The Samsung Music Player does not have this Music Search crash anymore. With JH7 Eclair, you would search for a song, and the Music player would just force close. So searching was impossible with this app.

How about a functioning wifi? The ecliair wifi stack has some serious bugs the effect connecting to corporate or college wifi networks. Good luck connecting to any wifi network that more complex than a simple home router using WPA-Personal. Froyo has all of those fixed.
