Yeah, I'm pretty sure I won't be waiting around for the "official" release of Froyo. With all the smart people working on this, I wouldn't be surprised if we have a working Froyo ROM before August. Since AT&t will have nothing to do with it, they can't really restrict anything.
So in a shorter version, it doesn't really matter what they restrict on their Froyo release, I probably won't be using their ROM anyways.
