Root Froyo ETA

Just be patient on this stuff there is still a lot to be done before roms. It should happen quickly but not over night.

Yeah, as much accelerated as the rooting for the Droid is over the incredible, the droid literally just got the 2.2 froyo a few days ago. And most of the leaks are still buggy as hell. I have it on mine, and it took 4 different leaks before I founf one that would not bootloop or do something stupid. Im betting 2 months from now we will really start seeing great custom ROMs for the INC. Once the rooting process has been cut down and refined to be easy to do, Im sure all the rom makers will be hammering out ROMs that the masses can install.

I don't understand. Froyo is open source right? whats keeping us from just loading a std froyo form google just as we would load windows onto a new machine?

Regarding the drivers, how many phones run android 2.2? doesn't seem like too much for google to just offer these drivers? particularly since the incredible is so similar to the nexus one...

I want FROYO damnit

There are Froyo ROMs for the Desire right now... so I imagine it wouldn't take a whole lot of time since the hardware is so compatible between the Desire, N1, and our phone.

Quick look at one of them shows that the Light sensor and Video recording isn't working right now. That's not bad considering there isn't even an official Froyo release from Google out at this point.

but I remember when winmo was cool, gsm phones used different roms than cdma..... Idk if Android is the same

Yes, different roms, but even now they have to be almost completely tailored to the device. No copy/paste for android roms nowadays lol.
