Froyo firmware - found valid download location

cstavaru

Newbie
Hi guys,

I found a valid download location for those who didn't manage to get the Android 2.2 Froyo firmware until it was removed:

[link removed due to copyright concerns]

Good luck ! :)

Being of a cautious nature & unwilling to "brick" my N1... I'd value reassurance: Could anyone who hasn't posted only once & who has used this file from this source confirm/deny it runs on an N1 & appears to be FroYo??

Cheers!

Or can someone provide an MD5 hash or similar for the original Froyo source against this one?
I agree with being cautious of a 1 post only member posting files.

Its just the upgrade file. Only 44 MB at download. True source file i assume would be much larger package.

cstavaru is such a great guy. Not only did he post that link but he also put me in contact with a Nigerian prince that he knows, and I'm going to get $50m just for helping move some money out of Nigeria using my bank account.

VERY slow download off a Romanian site... I call suspect...

edit: Wow, an hour to download 44.4MB? You can get it many other places faster... lol

Here is the MD5 info on the official one I used:

md5sum signed-passion-FRF50-from-ERE27.1e519a24.zip

5911bc88f5f9ddd25ed918a98f309ae6 signed-passion-FRF50-from-ERE27.1e519a24.zip

exit: Better yet, here is my DropBox link to download the file. You can use the above MD5 to verify, you can find the MD5 off the net to make sure I am not trying to cause problems. :D Let me know how the speeds are, if they are too slow, then I can upload to a mirror for sure. :D

Thanks!

Hey Talderon, were you able to confirm if the file is legit?

The link above, I stopped because it was going to take over an hour to download and the fact that I didn't get good vibes from it coming from a One Post user and it was on a Romanian site that I could not verify.

Guys, the original link is legit ! I personally used it to install Froyo on my Nexus One. I am a first time poster because when I realized that the original link has been removed I figured this is the community that needs it and I registered in order to post it here for whoever needs it.

You can check the MD5...its the correct one.

No prob. :)

We have to be careful since there are those out there that will join and post stuff just to cause trouble. Sorry to suspect you on this, but it did seem a little out of sorts to have someone join to just post a link...

Either way, we appreciate you posting and responding to this thread. I'll try and download it and verify, but will take a while since it is really a slow site. :(

Guys/gals,

We can't allow direct links to firmware downloads, legitimate or not. While the OS itself is open-source, the apps shipped with it are copyrighted by Google and hot-linking could be seen as facilitating distribution.

Hi Talderon,

Could you confirm that the MD5 code you posted was from the update taken directly from the Google servers? Ive seen a few mirrors that have the same checksum, just wanted to be 100% certain before I apply it to mine.

Thanks in advance

Yes it was. The MD5 I posted was the one directly from Google.
