Froyo live on 7/30 for the evo?

So 2.2's app2sd feature will definitely come in handy for the Evo owners...although with a class 2 sd card on the phone, not sure how that is going to play out.

Not sure why that matters, alot of EVO owners came from other android devices and already had 16 GB class 6 cards. Whats funny is that alot of new EVO owners got in on verizons mistake and bought the 32GB card for $50. *snicker*

I would guess that most Evo owners are running with the sd card that came with the phone. Given that Evo came with so little internal memory, it's surprising that they didn't include a better card on the phone knowing 2.2 was right around the corner.

Considring app2sd is such a highly touted feature of 2.2, I would think that a lot of Evo owners will look at their 300mb internal memory and almost instinctively move all their apps to the sd card. I'm sure for most people things will work fine without issue but just based on the number of Evo's sold, probability is high that some of these cards will fail. I'm certainly no expert but everything I've read seems to suggest that running app2sd on a class 2 card isn't a good idea and isn't recommended.

Even the DX only comes with a class 4 card but with the size of its internal memory, it's really a moot point. Running apps from internal memory will always be faster than running it from even a class 6 card so there really is no point or need in utilizing app2sd on the DX. Just seems to me like app2sd, which has been a highly requested feature of andorid since it was released, has become irrelevant for the newer generation of phones.

Well I can't speak for all EVO owners, but most of us on XDA aren't using the card that came with it. I already had 2 16 GB cards from my hero, and haven't come close to filling either over half and I have atleast 1000 songs and pics on mine. Im running cyanogen cm6 right now, and have about 60 apps on my phone with 315 MB still free. So I dont see the point of all that internal storage, especially if its only for apps but thats me personally. I would never have all those apps anyway but I guess for those who do have alot of apps, it would matter.

so what if you owned one ?? We don't troll . is that were waisting time waiting for FROYO on the EVO . So the DX forum seems like a good place to waist time ...

I agree 8 gb for apps is OVER KILL and and a waste of good storage. 2gb would probably be more than enough. We need to be able to put music or videos on it also. Give me access to internal storage!!! :(
 
Got to play with 2 EVOs recently. Honestly, sense seems to be like a big weight dragging down performance. I'd rather use ADW or launcher Pro. The flash lite was the only cool thing about it IMO. Not sure what all the hoopla is. Vanilla Android is still king.

They seemed slower than the X too, especially when switching between screens and they BOTH seemed to suffer from weird 3g issues. I had to restart both for the 3g to start functioning again. It was really strange, but they both lost 3g at around the same time as well. Maybe it was a network issue but no one else was complaining. As for feel, the X seems much better built. Maybe it's because the EVO was lighter I don't know, but it didn't seem as well put together. Still a nice phone and if I was on Sprint, it'd be the phone I'd have.
