Help Froyo ROMs and apps on SD

i recently got a warning on low space and i started to remove apps out of instinct, since i've only been using Froyo (nonsensikal) for about a month now.

and then i remembered Froyo can have apps on the SD card. but i didn't want to try it out in case it forced a partition on my SD card. or if it just creates a new folder on there and places the apps in it?

i just want to make sure before i do it.

Standard Froyo way simply moves the app to FAT SD card (it creates a folder "/sdcars/.android_secure" where apps are moved, not extra partitioning is needed). Unfortunately, no complete apps can be moved (some part still resides in phone memory).

there is no performance boost is there when running an app that is "moved" to the SD card then, huh?

I don't think so, the loading can be just little bit slower. SD card is slower than internal memory and it probably needs some time to join the data from SD card and internal memory, but this slowdown will be nearly unmeasurable. The only effect is that you can install more apps (which is significant on my G1).
