Froyo RUU update available

Thanks so much for this, just installed Froyo to my O2 branded phone and it was easy as pie.:)

Was this a O2 UK or O2 Ireland locked phone? I'm just wondering about the Baseband version in this ROM and whether it will work for O2 Ireland. My current version is 32.41.00.32U_4.09.00.09 which is different from the latest stock ROM (RUU_Bravo_O2_UK_1.20.207.1_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_124865.exe). So if things went wrong, would I be able to update (back) to my current version?

That isn't the latest O2 ROM, just the only RUU available. As the original post says, you cannot downgrade or rebrand easily from this, and if you have an SLCD screen old RUUs will definitely not work.

No mention of AMOLED on my box, so I'm guessing I have SLCD. Does your ROM work with this model?

I'm also guessing that the baseband version relates to network configuration, WIFI config and FM Radio config - can anyone confirm that? The bit I'm wondering about is the network config and will it work for O2 Ireland's network?

Yes, it works on SLCD screens. There will be no problems with the radio/baseband. The phone should offer the correct network settings based on your SIM, otherwise you can enter them manually (O2's website will have the information).

Thanks for the info Teppic74. I've had an XDA for years and flashed many times and with the XDA you could flash the radio seperately but some versions didn't work very well on O2 network - I'm not really talking about network settings taken from the SIM card - I just thought that the baseband version was akin to the XDA Radio ROM version.

You cannot use your current radio (4.xx) with Froyo, and it's not possible to install official Froyo with any radio other than the one included here. It works fine on my O2 (UK) phone.

Do you know if O2 UK ROM is the same as O2 Ireland (as yet unreleased)? I think traditionally it has been but not sure.

My ROM was probably the same as yours, it had the same radio, and software version 1.20.207.3.

Bear in mind that if you bought an unbranded phone and upgraded to Froyo OTA you would still have this radio, so it needs to be suitable for any network.

Slight tangent - having created a goldcard, is it possible to simply copy the image onto another disk or hard drive as a backup, just in case something happens to the goldcard. Then if necessary, copy back to another microsd card when updating phone?

No, a goldcard is unique to the card and cannot be duplicated. You can make as many as you want, but you need to go through the whole process for each sdcard.

It was an 02 UK phone.

I am really chuffed with the update still and would like to thank the OP once more.:)

This has been strange for me
I created a gold card which i tried in my Desire & all worked but when i tried to update using the RUU file it showed the "Error Customer ID" :(
The card i used was a Sandisk 2GB - and made the card using the Gold Card Creator Tool v.0.0.5 mentioned in previous post
Phone is branded Desire on Orange but unlocked
Any ideas please ??????
