Froyo Speeds

Cool app.....just dl'd it and ran it........no joke.....scored 1100 !!! Froyo will rock. My cappy is not rooted and I've got a ton of apps....but I do run ATK.

956 for me, but I did the 'stage 1 speed upgrade'. it's rooted, I've had it since release day, plenty of stuff on it and no lag really. I'm happy with my cappy :)

I got 912, got my captivate on the day it was released. Woohoo!! Go froyo when it comes out Hope this thing just flies out of my hands...LOL!!

edit:
Just ran it two more times again and it's dropped to 884 and 883..but still can't wait for froyo!! :D

If this is accurate I'm going to say this benchmark is bad. There shouldn't be such wide variances on the same hardware.

Yeah a difference of 100 seems a but much. I rebooted my phone and reran the tests and I got about 860.

896 here with all my normal stuff running.

My original intentions for a new phone was to wait and see if the HTC Desire came out for AT&T, after no announcements I gave in and got this phone as it was my second option. After seeing these speed comparisons I feel quite ignorant, the Captivate should have been my first choice and I do not regret getting it in any way.

i was running 960 the other day, guess my phones having a bad day

881 with all my stuff still running.
-fancy widget
-music player (auto start?)
-battery watcher widget
-lookout
-market
-apps organizer
-advanced task killer widget

My GPS seems to be working ok. I can even get 5 signals inside my bathroom with the door closed in my apt. :)

I know some people have put some of the 2.2 test builds on their phones... what kind of scores are they getting?

I traded my Captivate in today that I bought on release date. The home button kept sticking and repeatedly going to the home screen. This new one, after rooting and sideloading and installing all my apps, is getting around 890.

904 i just scored on my rooted Captivate, sideloading enabled, chock-full of apps, but with my widgets on, im gonna try it without widgets on now.

1524 holy crap. Is that a fully functional rom?

why yes it is lol. it's actually a 100% stock touchwiz rom with root, the only thing not stock is the kernel which adds ext4 support which lets me use apps2sd with an ext4 partition.

Brilliant...are you seeing a lot of "real time" speed improvement with apps/browser etc? The only thing that seems very slow with the Quadrant Benchmark Tool is I/O.

the I/O is actually the only place this fix speeds up, I do notice some things are much quicker like opening and closing applications, but then again it's not like this phone is a slouch lol

ummm, how easy is it to do such a thing? cuz 1524?!?!? thats ridiculous to be using 2.1!!!

well the kernel was actually released by justanothercrowd over at XDA, he added the support for ext4 in the kernel. From what I understand, you can still do ext2/3 with the stock kernel, but that would require some testing.

I don't have a captivate to test on, but I am wanting to build a ROM for the Captivate community since no one seems to be. If I can get a system dump I would be more than happy to whip something up.

If someone is willing to help me out with a system dump please let me know.

All I need someone to do is load up clockwork recovery on their phone.

  • Perform a nandroid backup to save all your settings(this is so you can restore after)
  • do a system wipe
  • perform another backup (this is the one I need)

I prefer a system wiped system dump so I dont get any personal information that may be lurking around.

With this I can make you guys a ROM with

  • Root & Busybox
  • Removal of AT&T Bloatware
  • Enable Application Sideloading
  • Deodex all APK and Framework files(enable theme support)
  • Zipalign all APKs
  • Apps 2 SD(this would require some testing with a willing candidate)
