froyo to gingerbread

is it worth upgrading my galaxy sl from froyo to gingerbread? is it worth the wait? gingerbread update hasnt been rolled out yet here in uae and im getting restless. should i just proceed on rooting my phone (and install all those "enhancements") and just stay on froyo or wait for gingerbread then root?

rooted froyo (with tweaks of course) would be just as good as gingerbread, performance-wise???

Froyo has better battery backup according to some reports, but gingerbread has better OS performance.

then i guess ill go for the update, if and whenever it comes. and i hope after gingerbread, they focus more on the UI, to achieve smoothness/fluidity ala iphone. then it would be the perfect android. you think its possible?

i heard the 2.3.4 update is better but most likely we would get 2.3.3 first. galaxy s just recently updated to 2.3.4 after their 2.3.3 update last month
