Root Froyo, Tweaked and Enhanced

Actually that port was from the Desire. Im not sure what the difference is in messaging apps. Got any screenshots comparing?

I dont have any screen shots.... but i can tell you.
When you open the messages icon, at the bottom of the screen you have some icons....text,voice mail and something else. Like quick links. This was on a rom for my EVo that came from the incredible leak (so they said) This is the one i want.

Now on the offical EVO froyo roms when you click the messaging icon, it just goes to texting window, with NO icons at the bottom.

So i pulled the MMS.apk from both ROM versions i have, and they both have the stuff inside. So maybe i dont need the MMS.apk, need something to tell the phone what to display??

thanks guys. i tried the 8_1_leak_enhanced.zip and it flashed without a problem. i'm curious to see if formatting all the partitions will fix it, so maybe i'll try it again...

Ok, I'm rooted and don't have the OTA installed.

Worried about losing stuff when backing up and restoring (app data, SMS) for some reason. Might wait until my final on Thursday is over then try this; don't need a heart attack before then.

1) I need to back up (Titanium + Nandroid), unroot then install leaked OTA then install this ROM?

2) Anything trick about the steps that I need to go through?

I have been running a SkyRaider Froyo ROM and would rather try this one out since it has all the junk stripped out. When I loaded the SkyRaider, I also installed an APK to get full Flash 10.1 functioning for sites like hulu.com.

Will I need to re-do the flash fix with this tweaked ROM?

It won't work on this one.

However it will on the second wave, which is the newer version of this.

Instructions and files will be in hulu_install folder on your sd card after install.

I thought there was just a single OTA update that was the 2.x radio?

Damn, I am confused now :(

Also, what's the consensus on this ROM vs the Evo Port ?

There has been only 1 Over The Air update for the Increcdible. It came out in May and I believe that was to fix the Exchange issue. The radio "OTA" never happened it is a leak. Depending on which RUU is used to unroot, you may need to get the May OTA.

Ok, this is going to sound like a crazy request....but..

I have a HTC EVO, and i used a ROM from AvalancheMod. It was a Froyo port from the HTC incredible. It had a, what i think, a better messaging app then the EVO has on the official froyo release. So i want to know how i can port the Verizon Incredible MMS.apk to my EVO.

On page one, i saw a zip with the MMS.apk in it and flashed it to my EVO while running 2.2. The app does not work... its not in the app drawer or in the home screen. If i make a anycut short cut to a direct message, it says the app is not longer installed. If i use root explorer and try to install the MMS.apk it says it can not be installed.

Also i need the voice mail app for my EVO to. I cant use the VVM from sprint.

THANX!!
Heya, didn't mean to ignore you like that.

I have been thinking on it, and there isn't much I can do to help out. The main reason is that Sprint uses their own MMS server and the mms apk is tied to it. Now that can be changed but there are a couple problems.

1. I don't know where htc stuck it, only where its at in the stock app.
2. I have yet to be able to successfully recompile an htc apk. I can decompile all day long. Putting it all back together is where the problem lies.

I don't want to do this, but curious if I download a patch I don't like and want to revert. After installing a patch from the main post (such as the stock lock screen, battery with percentage, etc.), how would I uninstall and go back to the HTC lockscreen? Would the method be the same for all patches?
