Help Froyo Update error message

Hi guys i have the desire, but a reative of mine as a 3 Mobile htc wildfire and tonight tried to install the ota froyo update. Phone rebooted after the update and she is nmow getting the error message "application open sense plugin manager has stopped please try again"

This is an unrooted 3 Mobile Wildfire.

As anyone had this problem and is it solvable or is it a case of telling her to return it?

Bit more info for you all, apparently a program called "ship mate" keeps trying to load & they are getting the message that the frooyo update is at 87%

tried factory reset ?
it will uninstall your apps but your meant to have a clean install when updating

I'll have to do that for her today, tried to talk her through doing it but she wasn't getting it.
