Help Froyo Update, no erros, hangs on "Galaxy S" screen after reboot

there's been a few posts where after the update, the phone hangs on the "galaxy s" screen, goes blank, with the home keys lit up. several of them eventually come up, or come up after entering the admin screen via the volume +/- & power button key combo.

mine doesn't bring up the admin/restore screen, it just goes into a normal boot and hangs on the galaxy s screen.

any ideas?

is it possible to reintall firmware with the phone in this condition (ie cognition 4 via odin or something similar)?

Well I'm rather disappointed with the lack of help here.. but after some hair pulling and almost shipping the phone to Samsung I avoided the 5 day turnaround that would have required and unbricked my phone.

In an effort to help someone facing the same issue after trying to upgrade to 2.2 via Samsung's method and not having to deal with a 5 day turnaround to have Samsung flash 2.2 and shippping it back, here is a link to the post explaining how I was able to unbrick my phone, and links to the original information: http://androidforums.com/2373572-post25.html.
