I don't really know what changes its going to bring to the evo but i hope it improves the Text message app. It border line sucks.(buggy) I know y'all probably gonna disagree cus you all love your evo so much,but a blind person can see it needs lots of improvements
 
Agreed on Handcent, only problem I had with it was sorting of messages. I imported my iPhone's text messages, and the stock app did a fine job of sorting them by date sent/received, but Handcent sorted them by date added, so things from March of 2009 were appearing more recent than texts from this week.
This isn't a problem for most people though, so go get Handcent
 
To disable the stock one, go into the settings and un-check the notifications and the auto retrieve

Just has no customization features and the interface layout lacks a lot.

it's okay, just nothing impressive. handcent is customizable and has some cool advanced features, which is why we all love it. Not sure what the droid x has, but i'm guessing a lot of future users will still install handcent for it.

since you're coming from an iPhone, you will be comfortable with it right away because you can have chat bubbles just like it :)

How do I get those bubbles? I installed handcents but I don't have the bubbles. Is it one of those font packs from the market? Thanks in advance. :o
 
I think I'm the only one who had issues with Handcent. Seemed to work okay for a while, then it would stop sending my messages all together and constantly make me retry to send it.

This problem seemed to originate from me replying to messages using the pop-up window, which would in turn cause all messages not to be sent.
