I've seen other frozen phone threads, but none really sounded like the problem I'm having. I've had my evo for all of a week and have been having this problem since day 2. Once or twice a day, after unlocking the screen, it opens to a blank screen, with just the time, battery icon, etc showing at the top. All that is there is the background and none of the buttons at the bottom work. I'm also unable to turn the phone off. The only thing that works is the slide down menu at the top, and should I happen to have a message or something else in the slide down menu, I'm able to open it and then all my apps/widgets come back and everything is fine. If the slide down menu is blank, my only option at that point is to take the battery out.
Any ideas on what could be causing this? This has happened both while on and off the charger. I realize since I've only had it a week I can take it back and get a new one, but everything else works fine on it and I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something I have running on here that might be causing my problem before I have to go through all that.
